The Tirana Marriott is located in the heart of the city, an impressive building that is connected to and overlooks the Air Albania Stadium. With 23 floors, it is one of the tallest building in Tirana and offers a great view of the city from the rooms on the high floors. It has a great M Club lounge on the 4th floor and a well equipped gym on the second floor with steam rooms and saunas in the changing rooms.||My wife and I stayed here for three nights, and during that time stayed in two rooms, our first night was in a Club Room on the 23rd floor with a great view over the city, then the next two nights we spent in larger room, an Executive Suite on the 20th floor, again great views over the city, mountains and even the stadium. Being lifetime Marriott Bonvoy Platinum elite members helped, as we were upgraded from the room we had initially booked and got M Club lounge access and free breakfast too.||The M club lounge offered soft drinks, tea coffee as snacks 24/7 and canapés and drinks in the evening. There was plenty of seating in the lounge so it never felt too crowded while we were there. ||Breakfast was served downstairs in the restaurant, with a good selection of food and drinks. ||The gym was a good size with plenty of exercise machines and equipment, as well as a room for classes. The couple of three times I was there it was never too busy so no waiting to use equipment. ||The staff in the gym, lounge, restaurant and reception were all great and very helpful. Answering all of our questions, service food and drinks and making us feel special. ||On the day we arrived we were very early around 10:30am, we had not requested checkin until around 2:00pm, as we wanted to explore the capital so did not need the room straight away, and were able to store our bags while we looked around the city. We arrived back at about 1:00pm, the room was not ready but instead of waiting in the reception we were kindly escorted up to the lounge, so we could grab a coffee and relax while our room was finalized. ||Each of our days at the hotel were great, when the weather was not so great, we could either relax in the lounge or our suite, or go and take a workout in the gym. ||On our checkout day, we were able to request a late checkout until 4:00pm which was handy but ended up leaving at around 3:00pm so we could go and catch the cable car up the mountain. ||It was a great stay, our Marriott loyalty was recognized and had the benefit of upgraded rooms, lounge access, breakfast and late checkout, which we took full advantage of during our stay. The staff were wonderful,...
Read moreArrival|We arrived early and luckily our room was ready and we were able to check in. Check in was friendly and they confirmed that we had booked with BA holidays so nothing to pay just a card for extras. It was a set €22 from the airport ||Room|The room was small but functional. Everything you could need, clean and a comfortable bed. The minbar hadn’t been replenished but reception confirmed that would happen later in the day. There is ample free water. Our room over looked the square and the stadium. The room wasn’t sound proofed which meant for 2/3 nights as there were events at the square / area we couldn’t sleep when we wanted to||Area|An easy walk to most of the main attractions in the city with the exception of the cable car which is the other side of the city. Lots of bars and restaurants around - it felt very safe in this area as well.||Eating |We only had breakfast which was a really good selection. The staff were lovely and attentive as well - remembering our drinks orders even though we only had a 3 night stay. It’s so easy to go out and eat ||Getting out and about |It’s so easy to walk about the city. If you are going to do the bunkarte we would suggest the first one which is out by the cable car. Much easier to understand the history and much quieter. Everyone says that there is nothing to do up the cable car but it’s a lovely place to spend sometime if you take a picnic on a nice day. ||Leaving|We booked a taxi at reception and we were told that it would be €15 taxi charge. As we got closer to the airport we realised it was on a meter and more like €30. As we got closer to the airport we hit horrendous traffic - which is apparently normal so we ended up walking the last 1km - so it was an expensive ride and we still had to walk. On leaving the hotel we were told again that our bill was paid by BA holidays so it was 0 charge - but when we got home we found a €400 charge on our credit card which still hasn’t been refund...
Read moreAfter much research which hotel for our 3 day break in Tirana, I chose the Marriott and was more than happy with my decision.||Welcomed on arrival by the lovely Angela who kindly sorted a room which I asked for - high floor with great view - we were given 15th floor with good City view (room 1502). There are 23 floors, hotel rooms are only in the tower part of the building. She also offered us a welcome beverage.||The rooms are very comfortable in every respect. Bathroom too. Excellent shower. If you want robes/slippers, you just need to ask. There is no milk for the tea/coffee so we asked at the bar and they very kindly gave us a takeaway cup full of milk which we put in our fridge.||There is one button on phone for guest services. We used it twice and besides answering immediately, what we asked for was sorted very quickly - robes brought within a couple minutes, same with engineer who brought television remote control with new battery, no wait, sorted.||We had breakfast included. Quality/ choices excellent. We also used the bar each night which is very comfortable nice atmosphere both inside and outside.||Hotel is in a great location, close to walk up to Skanderberg Sq, around Blloku the area of shops/ restaurants and on the other side, Tirana Park for a leisurely stroll. I particularly liked that the hotel is at on the wide boulevard so not hemmed in by other tall buildings hence you will probably get great views from any room.||And most important, the service. I'm sorry we don't remember names of all staff we came into contact with, but just to say they were all friendly, welcoming, helpful, professional, efficient and smiling. Noted a couple names, Rustem at breakfast (who remembered we liked still water) and the lovely Andeta who was at the front desk working as voyager...
