Service: Warm welcome from the start with a hostess bringing us to the table. Wines were brought to our table aswell before pooring it in our glass. Would have apprecoated a pre-taste, but I will let that slide in terms of the service quality.
Very weird timeframes in which the different courses were brought to our table. We specifically made an order for the dishes, but got each dish right when they were finished. Therefor only one of us could eat at the time.
One of the waiters had a long face throughout his service, whereas others could incidentally crack a joke. Eventhough it wasn't that busy, I would have appreciated a specific waiter (or no more than 2) different waiters serving us, felt more all over the place in terms of who was bringing the food. Finally, the waiter who had been staring at our table for whatever reason, but didn't serve us that night, brought us the bill .
Her first sentence was: the tip is not included. I found this quite offensive, and an entitling attitude. Thinking about it, considering the pricepoint and the quality of the food I, immediately took my cash tip back.
For the food: A 'schrimp salad' for 7 euros with a miserable 4 pieces of pre-baked shrimp. Salad wasn't even cut so felt like a goat while eating it. The avacado and the strawberry was however very nice, I give them that.
Fish soup was okay, filled with plenty of fish but could have had more taste to it imo. (Could be personal preference).
Tuna tartare was very average. Sub-par pieces of tuna with lots of chewing, especially for the 14 euro pricepoint. Would have expected a bit more for that price.
For our mains, the veal was overcooked and apr. (200 grams). The taste was just plane dry in certain parts, again, 3 miserable pieced of cooked potato, a couple mushrooms, no sauce, and some random garnish. Unacceptable for 20 euro's. I figured from the start that this dish wouldn't fill me, but wasn't expected this disappointing plate.
The 2 tuna steaks were nice (eventhough one of them was arguably also overcooked), bit more garnish and good seasoning, also nice sauce. Mind you, this was 18 euros.
Lastly, the deserts. Presentation was good, but the lava cake was dry and not fluid inside. The ONE strawberry that we both got was green. Futhermore the coffee ice-cream tasted like one of them nesquick packages. With a lot of imagination the 5.50 pricepoint is okay.
Lastly, the wines were pretty good. Overall, for a nearly 100 euro bill I would have expected a lot more from this restaurant visit and found the overall experience very disappointing.
The 'tip' remark was the nail in the coffin for our restaurant...
