Went for dinner last night to our favourite Thai food. When we walked in we noticed all new decor and then we asked why did the tables change and the girl at the counter told us that the original owners have sold the restaurant and the shop was under new management, we should’ve just left then because the food was horrible and there was a guy serving in SLIDES and he kept touching his face. We decided to give it a try because the girl said the reviews the new owners were getting was great. We ordered money bags, vegetable red curry and chicken and cashew. Money bags- Came our quickly and were frozen in the middle. I sent them back and when a new batch finally arrived they were greasy and one wonton was cut in half, I told my son not to eat it cause I can just imagine it was cut open and someone put their finger in it to test if it was hot. Red curry- more like a soup with vegetables added right before serving so they were completely raw. The vegetable selection inside was not like it used to be and the curry was more like a soup and had no flavour. Chicken and cashew- BURNT cashew nuts, hardly any chicken and the chicken that was in there was shredded and dry and the vegetables were again raw and then it looks like they’ve added cornstarch to thicken the sauce, it was just gross. I’ll never be back to Siam orchid after eating there for over 5 plus years.
I wish the old owners well and they have a well deserved rest. It’s a shame the training you gave the new owners was not listened...
Read moreUnfortunately we were very disappointed with our takeaway meals. The Panang was made on beef when my partner ordered chicken (he doesn't eat red meat) and there were no vegetables in the dish at all, not even 1. When I called about the mistake (didn't realise until I waa home & putting on his plate) the lady over the phone said we could have a credit for next time. Figured sure that's okay, we'll just share the vegan green curry. Ohmygosh, it was up there with the worst green curries I've ever had. I order vegan everywhere & there's never an issue with flavour and it was confirmed before ordering it that vegan was something they could accommodate. It was bland, lacked spiciness, the tofu was hard and rubbery and it was more a yellow colour than green. Highly disappointing for over $60 meal.
The spring rolls were delicious, best we've had in a long time! The fried rice was decent, but not a show stopper although appreciated with the other issues we at least had something edible. This was meant to be a treat for our anniversary (our usual 2 places were closed) as my partner is in isolation so our dinner date plans at a fancy restaurant were cancelled. I usually like to give the benefit of trying a place more than once and updating my reviews accordingly, but fear we may not bother with this place...
Read moreI’m utterly disappointed with-our last three takeaway and multiple in dining before that. The golden bags were over cooked in very old oil. Tasted borderline bad chicken. We bought two serves and took a bite out of three of them and spat them out. Really bad! This is the third time. The spring rolls were ok but the oil is too far gone, needs to be changed. It changed the taste and wasn’t great.
The service is always friendly but unfortunately since this place changed hands quite some time ago it is heading in a downward spiral, it’s loosing its reputation.
The restaurant feels dirty. Windows are really filthy. There is no atmosphere anymore. It’s really sad because we use to go all the time or get take away at least once a week. The place needs a big clean up and some love put into their cooking and restaurant.
I don’t write this lightly and TBH I feel bad writing this but unfortunately they need to know so they can fix it.
We won’t be back unless it...
