Went to Bodega lastnight to celebrate.

Wasnt a very good place to dine in, might not go there again neither will recommend this ti friends or family.

First thing first food was good - genuinely tasty.

Service was terrible : even though we booked place for two well in advance they gave us table upstairs not downstairs been told thats its full - Fair enough we said and happily took seats upstairs but to our shock they let another two couple in and offered them table downstairs - MAY BE THEY DIDN'T LIKE OUR FACES to fit us downstairs in much cozy place.

FIX THE MAIN DOOR : Their door was not closing properly and we had to get up and close the door every time anyone was entering or exiting the restaurant.. i got up may be 5 times my partner got up may be little more and then there was another unlucky couple who can after us and was sitting next to door had to get up may be 10times just to shut the door. Guys its Melbourne winter if patrons are in coats and thick jackets in the restaurants there is something very wrong. Anyway, that couple was smart and left in just 30mins..

We couldn't finish our tasty PP menu and asked if we can take away the leftover helpful waitress said yes we can and she took our plates said she will get it ready for us by time we enjoy our dessert. We waited15mins and then we were told that they threw our food in bin and apologised said there was some mis communication in the kitchen and they offered us $10 discount on the bill. Whilst we appreciate the discount but the food which was thrown away in bin was worth more as we didn't even taste the beef ribs($25 in menu) and other things two tacos($15 in menu)

All in all bad experience and waste of a date night dinner and hard...

this review is more geared towards a 1 star, however my partner and I want to give the benefit of the doubt should we give this restaurant a chance in the future. my partner and i came to this restaurant for our anniversary, for a restaurant with many good reviews and considerable hype on tiktok, unfortunately our experience was disappointingly “mid”. first the service, though i understand the waitress may have had a long day , it was a little discouraging with the lack of friendliness or consideration in our interactions with her. we came to this restaurant for the purpose of trying the revered birria tacos, much to our disappointment the waitress had advised us that we couldnt order the tacos as someone else had taken the last order, it would of been appreciated if an effort was made to let customers know that this particular order was unavailable prior to seating or taking orders. additionally, it felt as though the waitress was rushing us to make an order and had provided no recommendations for other items on the menu that would have been equally good. we ended up ordering the ox tongue (to which we didn’t like personally, but i have no doubt it is delicious for others) and another dish which was also just alright. my partner ordered a drink that never came and in the end had requested to cancel it. this same waitress said “sorry things just get lost you know” after telling us “ill check with the bar, if your drink hasnt been made yet ill cancel it for you” without making an effort to make the drink possible or offer something else. all in all we left the restaurant pretty unsatisfied, we’re hoping that these suggestions are taken into consideration for the future so other hopeful customers...

Wonderful food but hair in it.

Went to Bodega only twice. First time tried tacos all good. This time tried feed me menu.Third dish in the menu came and had long hair all mixed in it. I asked does chef not wear hat or something. They said no. The hair was mixed in the dish completely and seemed long. I just picked it up and saw this hair in it picking out . Then I used my fork to see what it is . It was a hair that was all mixed in with food.

I was very disappointed and kinda down. But as I was with a colleague so did not make a fuss but everything after that I struggled to eat. They brought me a new plate and gave us 2 extra churros as apology . That was very lame too .

No body came out from the kitchen to say anything. No chef or anyone or even manager or anybody. The apology from wait staff was like ' ah we apologize" . Not like they were actually sorry. I felt like this happened here before or who knows a lot. If they behaved bit better in this situation I would not be so disappointed.

I m so disappointed that places now a days don't take any responsibility. Person with me ate most of the food as I was struggling to comprehend and literally had no idea how to react.

This happened about 2 weeks. I am finally coming to my senses how horrible it was and writing this review.

I do not recommend this place due to their unprofessional behavior after the incident as well as all that hair in my food. Yikes.

Otherwise I would have continued going to this place if they had done the...

B-O-D-E-G-A Mexican If you're heading to B-O-D-E--G-A, do yourself a favour and just stick to the tacos. They're the only thing worth ordering. The "to-share" menu? Skip it entirely. The potatoes came with what was advertised as chipotle sauce — but it tasted like butter chicken. Not in a good way, just confusing. The "Mexican wings" were labeled as chipotle too, but they were straight-up smoky barbecue. Honestly, just call them that on the menu. It’s misleading and disappointing when you're expecting a chipotle flavour and get something completely different. In fact, every single item that claimed to be chipotle-flavored had a totally different taste — and none of them actually tasted like chipotle. If I knew that ahead of time, I wouldn’t have ordered the wings or potatoes at all. Major letdown. The elote corn was acceptable — nothing amazing, but passable. We also walked in knowing exactly what we wanted to order, but it still took about eight minutes for anyone to come take our order. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time, so that wait felt unnecessary. On a positive note, the staff were friendly, and the food presentation was on point — everything looked fantastic. But looks aren’t everything. The flavour was all over the place, and not in a good way. Bottom line: great service, great-looking food, but unless you’re ordering tacos, you’re rolling the dice on taste.

you can’t compare most Mexican eateries in Melbourne like Mamasita, Hotel Jesus etc with this place. Each have their own style, price point and different offer. So depends what you are after. I base this review of what I needed - a place that had a table for a short period, does quick and tasty food in small servings I can try and share with a friend as we walked through the city trying different places. I wandered past with a friend we didn’t have a booking but asked if they had space for us to have a quick bite and drink. They were able to fit us in for 45 mins even though fully booked which was good luck. If you want to sit in and do dinner you have to book. We ordered and shared the following to get an idea of the food: - Taco De Chorizo Y Papa - Tostadas de Cameron (Prawn) - Mezcal Margarita I enjoyed the food - fast, fresh and tasty. Bonus points for vegan options makes it easy to eat with vegan friend. I think this is the biggest collection of mescaline I’ve come across in Melbourne, cocktail was great. Probably group together with Radio Mexico and Fonda Mexican style menu - but more value for money. It’s In Chinatown, dimly lit basement space, lovely ambiance, great service and tasty fast food and price - overall great value will come again.

I recently enjoyed a delicious dinner at Bodega Underground and was very pleased with my experience! Admittedly, I found this venue through a viral Tiktok video, but I was surprised to learn that the entire place is gluten free and coeliac friendly! My cousin suffers from coeliac disease and so we were keen to visit without the stress of gluten contamination. We tried the Mexi chicken wings which were so saucy with a hint of spice! We also tried the Totopos with Guacamole - the guac was so good. Finally, we had the Birria Quesatacos which really lived up to the TikTok hype. We made the mistake of having a big lunch before we arrived for dinner so unfortunately we were too full to try the corn and churros - but we will definitely be back! I particularly loved the vibe of the venue. The staff were super friendly and accomodating, and answered our questions when ordering. The venue was fairly easy to find and is easy to get to via public transport. I would definitely return in the future to try some of the other items on the menu and maybe even try the feed me menu or bottomless brunch options. Thanks for a great night out to the entire Bodega Underground team!
