Haymarket Kitchen Visited on 19/6/2022 It is a wet evening. My wife and I check in our luggage at the Central Station so hat we are free to move about looking for food. We pass by the restaurant looking at the promotional display information displayed at the window. The restaurant serves traditional dishes just like hat Mum used to cook. A waiting staff invite us in to keep ourselves warm. However, it is too early for dinner, so we decide to check out other eateries. However, we finally return. It is rather small. I wonder there is another floor of dining area. Near the entrance are two fish tanks holding fresh seafood. The staff speaks Cantonese, but they are also fluent in Mandarin and probably not quite in English. The teapot, teacup and saucer win hands down compare with some Chinese restaurants. If we are not that full after a very lunch, we would have tried more dishes. The clay pot dish is really piping hot, and very tasty.

This restaurant is quite an authentic Cantonese cuisine restaurant. I would recommend their poached chicken (Baak Cit Gai) and stir-fried beef ho fun (Gon Caau Ngau Ho). The poached chicken has tender meat that isn't dry, and it's cooked just right, making it quite delicious. The stir-fried beef ho fun has a rich wok fragrance, not too greasy, and the texture is also very good. Other dishes are also well-prepared, all of them are above average. The only drawback is the slightly high prices; without ordering expensive dishes, the average cost per person easily reaches $40. If they could lower the prices a bit, it would be a place to visit more frequently.

Came here for a casual dinner after work. Highly recommend the chicken, tender and have genuine chicken flavour. The fishball with rice noodle and congee wasn't bad. Probably a little pricey. The service though was a bit off. We were forced to sit on a table near the middle of the restaurant (where it was a bit narrow), even though there were other tables available (and it wasn't a busy night). Other customers who had less people that came later, ended up sitting in the more spacious table. Overall not too bad though.

3 of us had luch today at this place. We were shown their lunch menu where most dishes are $19.80 each. We selected 3 dishes to share. One was bbq pork and roast duck with rice. The bbq pork and choy sum were cold, rice was barely warm. The most obvious is the size of the dish was half of what appeared in the photos. The quantity of bbq pork and duck was half of what was shown. Then the marinated duck with rice came, also half size with rice which was barely warm. The stir-fried beef with rice noodle was normal. When the first 2 dishes arrived and we found the problems we raised it with the manager. At this time the cook (possibly the owner) was out talking with a waiter, so the cook, waiter and the manager acknowledged the issues we riased. They then disappeared with no response, as if we were lying. When paying our bill, the manager charged us for 4 dishes. When we questioned her of the overcharge, she argued that on her record we had consumed 4 dishes although she soon realised she was caught. Never will we visit this...
