I come here very often around ten fifteen years ago when i studied at UTS, best place for cheap eat and big portions. However I had to edit my review as of last Feb 2019 due to an experience we had with the take away where we also took away a Caterpillar. This was a big disappointment provided they had always been my go to. I'm not sure of there was a change of management or anything to do with the restyling. But to be honest. Walking in there looking at the lady taking my money and straight after, chopping some chilli. It shows me the lack of care for cleanliness. Five people crammed in there with no room to move. Hold on, is there even a sink to wash their hands or the veggies? How long have the veggies been sitting in the little stainless steel bowls ready for the mad rush during peak hour. Mind you the taste is there, the portion is there. But I wouldn't go again anymore.. No more driving out of my way just to grab some take away. Until they step up and up the cleanliness... very disappointed. Btw, they dont take just cash anymore. They also take card with additional 1.5% charge on top.

authentic thai stir fries in a small compact location - menu was long yet the kitchen was small but mighty!! two chefs were working the woks and produced dish after dish of delicious thai food! we tried some more unique dishes we havent heard of, and the serving sizes were GIANT! 🐟 sweet and sour ling fish – lightly battered fish with a tangy, sweet-and-sour sauce. the fish was sooo tender, my fave dish of the night for sure ! ⭐ 🍗 crispy chicken with peanut sauce – this was super interesting ?!?! was expecting a satay style thiccc peanut sauce, but the pb sauce was quite liquid and light in colour, something like peanut and sesame mixed with curry sauce. the chicken was similar to crispy chicken katsu. would try the spicy basil one next time. 🍳 kaprow kai dow giant – a massive plate with basil, pork mince, and a perfectly fried egg – classic unofficial meal of thailand locals, super satisfying ⭐ 🌶️ pad prik pow clam – fresh clams in a spicy and savoury sauce that was addicting, all served with rice! overall: amazing food, big portions, low price!!

A small takeaway shop with few tables for dining at. A humble Thai restaurant that brings so much joy as you can smell the wok hay of Asian seasonings. Portions are extremely generous and good value for money. Cash payments are 10% discount and 1.5% surcharges for cards. Staff is extremely friendly and on a Friday afternoon there was a long queue of ppl ordering for takeaway and all the seatings are taken. Food was prepared fairly quickly and the wait time is minimal hence for 5 stars service. Drunken noodles were perfectly cooked that their flat rice noodles still have its bounciness. Has a hint of chilli and basil with the signature wok hay flavours if you’re in Asian countries. Crispy chicken with creamy peanut butter sauce is one of their special dishes and oh man the portion is huge - could feed 2 people easily. Fragrant coconut milk combined with peanut butter. Second time - laddna & oriental tom yum noodles soup. Both were good but its a bit salty for my preferences. Would prefer stir fry options over soups.

if you’re in haymarket and craving authentic thai flavours, look no further than satang takeaway!

🍜 drunky noodle – i decided to step out of my usual comfort zone of pad thai and pad see ew and ordered the drunky noodle. let me tell you, that risk was absolutely worth it! they had a savory, slightly spicy sauce that clung perfectly to the noodles, and i can confidently say i would get it again.

🍲 tom yum oriental soup – this soup is a fragrant explosion of flavors, with a rich tom yum broth infused with zesty lime, aromatic herbs, and a hint of chili heat. the noodles were really soft, making each slurp incredibly satisfying.

🍗 crispy chicken with curry sauce – the star of the show! i’ve been to satang twice now, and each time, i can’t resist ordering this dish again. the chicken was perfectly crispy, and the rich curry sauce was flavorful—definitely a must-try!

the portion sizes are massive for the price, leaving me in a serious food coma afterward. just a heads up, the place is cozy and replicates the vibe of restaurants in thailand, so be prepared for a tight and vibrant atmosphere. i highly recommend calling ahead to book a table, as they tend to be busy!

you won’t regret it! 💛

A rainy day in Sydney led me to stumble upon Satang Thai Takeaway, and I'm so glad I did! Walking down the street, the enticing aroma of spices drew me in, and the sound of the sizzling wok sealed the deal. I found a small, bustling joint packed with people – always a good sign! There was a short queue, but the food came out surprisingly quick. On the staff's recommendation, I ordered the crispy chicken with chilli and Thai basil sauce, and honestly, I'm struggling to find a single fault. The chicken was perfectly crispy, the sauce was an explosion of flavour, and the portion was so generous I couldn't finish it all – my only regret! Seriously, the value for money here is incredible. This dish, recommended by the friendly staff, was a masterclass in balancing crispy, juicy chicken with a fragrant, spicy sauce. It's the kind of meal that leaves you wanting more, even when you're completely stuffed. Satang Thai Takeaway has definitely won me over with their authentic flavours, generous portions, helpful staff, and efficient service. I'll be back soon with an empty stomach and a bigger appetite!
