Easily the best hostel I've ever stayed at, and it's not even close. What can I say? For one, it's right in the heart of the CBD and literally across the street from World Square which has lots of great options for food and shopping, a short walk from both Central and Museum stations, and a pleasant jaunt away from Darling Harbour. The pods are the most spacious I've seen, have proper lights and power sockets in every one, and are very private. If you get assigned a top bunk, those are open to the ceiling (with very high walls) and are a little more spacious and have better airflow, but the bottom bunk also never felt stuffy. The rooms also contain huge lockers, easily big enough for my 60L duffle bag AND 35L backpack with room to spare. It's a smaller hostel and not very social (mostly students attending the college in the same building) so don't expect to meet a bunch of friends, but as a result it's also the quietest hostel I've ever been to. You could hear a pin drop in the rooms at any point in the day. The rooms and common areas are immaculately clean and well-maintained, to the point where I don't really understand how they do it. This place is high-end hotel room levels of clean, despite the smaller complement of staff. Those staff are also incredibly friendly and accommodating, on top of being obviously very good at their jobs. The communal bathrooms are very nice and also stay very clean throughout the day. The showers are spacious, have excellent water pressure and consistent temperature, and plenty of space to put your effects where they won't get wet. There are other reviews complaining about the elevators being shared with other building tenants and, while the main two larger elevators are, there is a dedicated elevator for the hostel as well in the far back corner, although it is small enough that people travelling with multiple large bags may struggle a bit. As it stands, we just barely managed to fit two people and our moderate amount of luggage inside, but it's really not an issue and the big elevators are always there, you may just have to wait a minute for them during the busy hours of the day. The only small drawback is that if you plan to cook a lot, the kitchen is small and it's a bit of a struggle if multiple people are trying to cook at the same time. I've stayed here twice (once in July 2022 for a week and once in June 2024 for 3 nights) and loved it both times. I tried to book it again recently but they were at capacity with long-term guests who are attending the aforementioned college. It's a bit more expensive than the other hostels in the area, but it's so far above them in quality that it's worth the premium if you aren't staying for longer than a week or so. I believe that they do have special long-term rates, but I can't speak to what they are. Overall if you want a quiet, clean, and comfortable hostel to stay in Sydney for a few days, look no further...
Read moreVery impressed with this hotel that I just stayed last night: The place is walking distance to the main train station in Sydney, which links to the airport line. The facilities were new. From the cups and plates in the kitchen to the pillows and beds, all brand new so I had the feeling that I was in a place that just opened up. Reception desk had a friendly/informative staff. Although the reception closed at 11pm, they had a 24/7 number that you could call. I also received a flyer that explained where everything was so it was easy to get located.
Many ups: The place itself had a modern-looking style and a lot thought was put into it. Great colors. The living area was well looked after with a big screen and the kitchen was clean with all the cooking appliances. The aircon did perform very well throughout the whole hotel. It was 36ºC last night in Sydney midsummer and the aircon held on strong. The toilets were clean and I was surprised to see that they even had an ambulant toilet (at least for the male toilet). Free wifi (as opposite to other budget accommodation that charge separately) and my internet worked quite well. The pod itself was surprisingly spacious and, for a budget accommotion, it almost felt that I had a room for myself. Very stylish wooden frames for the beds. I had control of the light on my pod, which was very nice, and two power sources. Glad that I did not have to wrestle with anyone for the control of the power sockets. The pillow and bed went clean and they also provided shampoo and a clean towel.
Overall a great place to stay. You got several amenities of a high end accommodation place for a semi-budget price. I recommend...
Read moreLocation: Great! Close to everything |Facilities: no ironing board that’s readily available for guests. Long walk to the toilet passing through people in dining, kitchen and living… awkward. Elevator was broken. Reception was a mess with linen skips all over the place but the receptionist was extremely friendly!|Experience: I booked a room for myself. Didn’t realized, until I get their, that the room was bare with only a bed and a bedside table. No toilet. No table or chair in the room. I could bring a friend in but I didn’t coz you walk through a corridor passing through the kitchen, dining and living area. You can hear people talk whilst in your room. |Overall: I will come back if I want to save money but never if I want privacy and peace of mind. Was it worth it? I’d prefer to pay extra just to get my privacy. This place is for backpackers. They offer a single room but it is extremely disappointing. I booked a room thinking I’d feel different but it was pretty much, a backpacker experience, not that I am against that… but wasn’t expecting. Ultimate, the room was spacious but bare. Just a bed, bedside table and clothing rack. No...
