This is my friends favourite dessert destination in Sydney, so I really wanted to know what the fuss was about.
We ordered quite a few dishes because I won't be returning to Sydney for a while, we ordered 10 items in total:
Coco mango sticky rice Pandan mango crepe Lady mango Mango paradise Thai tea bingsu Mango coco choux puff Spicy thai basil pasta fusilli with crispy chicken Spicy burn salmon caborna spaghetti Challenge fried rice with grilled pork neck Mango coco sago
Let's start with the dessert dishes:
Pandan mango crepe - this dish was my least favourite, it was way too heavy and I felt it didn't match well with what the flavours it was served with. The sticky rice filling itself was good, the crepe that held it together was good, the sauce, cream, and mango was good but together wasn't great. Shame.
Lady mango - didn't quite like this one as well, I feel like the puff was not good, it was okay, the mango and other parts were good but similar to the pandan mango crepe, together the flavours were not harmonious.
Lady mango - very good, not too much sticky rice, mango was bit sour, but that was okay, cream and mango pudding along with the ice cream and taro balls were a match made in heaven. Good.
Mango paradise - very good, basically if you love mango, you'll love this dish, it's a mango overload. Good.
Mango coco choux puff - no complaints here, good as well. On key with the flavours.
Thai tea bingsu - this was good but not great, the tapioca balls that it came with were too chewy, probably best to get the mango bingsu instead over this one.
Now, onto the food portion of Mango Coco's offering:
Spicy thai basil pasta fusilli with crispy chicken - the taste was good, not too heavy, not too light the spiciness of the dish was not overwhelming, and the chicken was cooked well, however, the price compared to what you get is disappointing, the serving is tiny, if you're just ordering this better off ordering more.
Spicy burn salmon caborna spaghetti - at first glance it looked really heavy with the cream but upon tasting it was actually not that heavy, the sauce was delicious, the salmon lacked flavour and seasoning, I believe this dish was meant to be mixed in well with the salmon so it could inherit the flavour from the sauce but I would really like it if they cooked the salmon with seasoning so it emitted its own unique flavours. Still good but not amazing.
Challenge fried rice with grilled pork neck - didn't think much of it, liked the name, so we tried it, and man, were we surprised. The rice was cooked well. It was soft, moist, and flavourful yet not oily. The pork neck was tender and paired with the dipping sauce was spot on. Well done.
Lastly, my mango sago drink, shame to say this but I could not drink it as after eating all this food, me and my friends entered a food coma, but I'm sure it would of been tasty.
Overall, Mango Coco (or known as Coco Mango) is a great dessert location that one must try at least once in sydney, if you're planning to try on Fridays or weekends expect a very long wait as this place can get extremely busy. It's probably one of the best dessert places in Sydney. Unfortunately, there's none in Melbourne otherwise I'd probably visit more often....
Read moreOur first visit to Mango Coco was a journey of indulgence, sparked by my wife’s long-held wish to explore their delightful offerings. Despite the lunch rush, where a line greeted us at the door, the wait was not unbearable. We were eager to dive into their unique dishes, selecting the Creamy Prawn Pasta and Pad Thai Prawn, though their halal options were limited.
To be candid, the food was remarkable. The Creamy Prawn Pasta was a harmony of flavors—spaghetti bathed in a rich, creamy prawn sauce, topped with parmesan, tobiko, and an exquisite onsen egg. Meanwhile, the Pad Thai Prawn danced on the palate with its rice noodles coated in a tamarind sauce, the crunch of peanuts, the fresh burst of bean sprouts, and tender prawns—an absolute must-try for spice lovers. Each bite felt like striking a jackpot in a lottery of flavors.
But it was the desserts that truly seemed to draw the crowds. We ventured into the realm of sweetness with the Coconut All Star, a blissful medley from the coconut family—sticky rice, young coconut, lod chong, coconut milk, sago, grass jelly, jackfruit, all crowned by a scoop of coconut ice cream. It felt less like a dessert and more like a celebration in a bowl.
Being a curious food lover, I couldn’t resist adding a Pandan Mango Crepe to our order. It was a feast in itself: pandan crepe filled with foithong, sticky rice, and coconut sauce. The mango crepe, brimming with fresh mango, sticky rice, and mango sauce, was finished with a drizzle of coconut and pandan cream. It was rich and almost overwhelming—a dessert that could easily stand as a full meal.
The presentation of each dish was impeccable, a testament to the care and artistry Mango Coco puts into its culinary craft. Overall, the experience was fantastic—a food adventure I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. Visit Mango Coco, and I promise you’ll be...
Read moreMango Coco is a really solid choice if you're looking for something a bit different in the heart of Sydney. Located right in the Haymarket area, it’s super convenient to get to, whether you're wandering around the city or visiting nearby attractions. What stood out most for me was the outdoor plaza seating—it’s spacious, clean, and has a really nice vibe, especially in the evenings. The lighting in the patio area gives the place a soft, warm glow that feels cozy and welcoming. It’s also a fun spot for kids—mine loved watching the lights and playing around a bit while we waited for our order.
The menu focuses on mango and coconut-based desserts with a Thai influence, and everything we tried was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The mango sticky rice was a highlight—perfectly ripe mango slices, slightly warm sticky rice, and just the right amount of sweet coconut cream. It was sweet but not overpowering, and beautifully balanced. There’s also a variety of other desserts and drinks on the menu, including mango bingsu, coconut puddings, and even a few fusion savory dishes that looked really interesting.
Service was fast and friendly, and the staff were helpful when we had questions about the menu. The presentation of the food is clean and elegant—simple enough to feel casual, but with enough care that it feels like a treat. The whole space has a light, airy design with touches of Thai decor that tie the concept together nicely.
Overall, Mango Coco is a great little escape in the middle of the city. Whether you’re looking for a refreshing dessert, a unique Thai treat, or just a pleasant place to sit and relax outdoors, it’s definitely worth a visit. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more from the menu!
