Returned for a second visit as had such an amazing time 6 years ago and wanted to show my Mum over from the UK how amazing it is. Neil and Noël have gone above and beyond to equip the room with everything you could possibly need. They provide complimentary port and chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate, as well as tea and coffee. Breakfast is outstanding- a wonderful spread of fruits poached in spirits, homemade baked porridge and freshly baked bread. Then a full English breakfast along with a wide selection of fruit juices and jams. The finale is croissants and baked donuts plus freshly baked muffins which they give you to take on your journey! This is the best b&b ever and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Colonial type guest house. Cosy interior. Super helpful and friendly hosts. They provide the yummiest breakfast. Lots of homemade scones and pastries. Fresh juice. Five stars for breakfast actually. Laundry facilities available. Walking distance to town centre. Negative points , Inside the house has a very strong smell. Not sure if it’s dog smell?? Found it very unpleasant. Poor ventilation.

One of the best accomodation on the east coast Tasmania. The breakfast was amazing, lots of choices, even have home-made almond yoghurt and almond milk. They even offer us some breads for takeaway on the road. Thanks for the generosity. The room were extremely clean and well thought in every details. The garden is so nice and I want to go back one day for a peaceful afternoon.

An absolute find - more than just a place to stay. Meredith House is an experience in itself. From the moment you enter, Neal and Noel greet you with a warmth and nostalgia that make you feel like old friends reuniting. We were also fortunate enough to meet their gorgeous westie terriers Lulu and Dougall, which add a homely and familiar feeling to the house.

Comfortable, clean and cosy conjoined studios form the ‘Mews’. A fully equipped kitchen awaits complete with dishwasher, fridge and glasses for any occasion. The bathroom boasts a clean and welcoming traditional spa - with complimentary bath salts and other bath/shower products to enjoy.

They’ve thought of everything from tea light candles with matches to a pedestal fan, an absolute must for us when staying anywhere!

Top off the evening with a glass of port on the private deck overlooking an English style fairy garden, with bbq facilities for those warmer afternoons.

With a comfortable bed to lay and rest after a walk around the sleepy town, Meredith House has a familiar and kind feeling. I’d read other reviews about the breakfast available and they weren’t overestimating - Neal and Noel have worked hard for almost twenty years to perfect a menu of satisfying pastries, muffins, and a smorgasbord of traditional and continental breakfast items. Each tasty morsel has been baked by them in their kitchen - I loved the touch of the ‘doggy bag’ at the end to take away the yummy treats to enjoy throughout the day.

The pictures on the website and other booking sites simply do not do this place justice - if you are lucky enough to stay here you will appreciate the understated yet tasteful space these two folk have created, down to the last detail.

We will definitely be back, and a shout out to the exceptional ‘mushroom gravy’ I enjoyed this morning - never had anything...

Noel is a consumate host, he is passionate about what he does and tries his best to make his guests as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately as it turns out, my wife and I have discovered we are not B and B people.

Noel gave us the option to cancel our booking a few days before we were due to stay at Meredith House. As everywhere was pretty much booked out, we decided to push on with our booking.

We received a warm welcome from Noel complete with muffins and he even advised us as to the best route we could take to our next location at Port Arthur. However as soon as we entered our room in the main house, my wife and I knew we were in trouble.

My asthma started playing up and I could hear my wife sniffling as an indication that her dust allergies were triggered.

We headed out to a nearby pizza place and contemplated booking another location or driving on to Hobart. Once again no luck with in finding another place and we were both too exhausted to drive.

Needless to say, we had a sleepless night and by the time the sun started breaking in neither of us could breathe. Noel had kindly provided us with a fan that helped with ventilating the room but wasn't enough to stop our allergies.

We left as soon as we could, without having the breakfast. Partly because we had been having continental and hit breakfasts all week and we were getting pretty desperate for some real food. In our rush out, we forgot to settle our bill. Noel was a gentlemen when he contacted us and reminded us of this, and we finalised the payment.

We realise now we are not really cut out for bed and breakfast, as evident from our delight and relief upon reaching our...

Neal is the host with the most, he gave us a true northern (English) welcoming and was so accommodating, together with his Australian partner. From the welcome muffins on arrival to the tips for the local area and our travel plans, it felt like he was welcoming us into his home. Then for the breakfast, wow, what can I say. Probably the best breakfast I’ve had anywhere in any hotel and I travel a lot. The huge selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, fruit juices and wonderfully cooked breakfast, even inviting us to take the individually freshly made pastries with us for later. You couldn’t ask for more. What made this even more special was all the little things that Neal went out his way for - bringing HP sauce to the table for the cooked breakfast (because nothing else compares) and bringing us a bag of Yorkshire tea to take on the rest of our travels. What a gent.

Do not think twice about booking this place, nothing...
