For starters, this is the most infuriating system I have ever encountered. The users are almost exclusively exhausted and bedraggled travellers with any sort of access on their phones. A helpful airport employee told me there were sleeping cabins available, and it all went downhill from there. I would say my prime complaint is that there is NO indication anywhere on these pods what to do other than “touch the screen”, meanwhile they are almost all unresponsive. It really appears, with the pod’s IS scanning feature and “all you need to do is touch the screen” that the pod might be a sort of self-serve booking system. Not true. You need to go through Booking.com — and once I did that, it really seemed like I was in. There is only a small button saying “contact the host”, and I gotta say, an hour later with a draining phone, seventy euro less, no European SIM card, at midnight, it felt like I was losing my mind. The touch screen of one pod was asking for my phone number and not accepting any iteration of it. No amount of the many emails confirming my reservation told me what to do, what pod was actually mine, and how to get in the actual box. It said nowhere that check-in had to be over — WHATSAPP!!!
So the trick is that you need to have WhatsApp. You will be calling Italy!!! The nice fellow at the other end was shocked I had not yet received a text over WhatsApp with my verification and checkin process, but c’est la vie. This kicked off a series of verification steps, selfies, passport photos and finally, the code to the door. It turns out you don’t need to access the outside touch screen at all, it’s a red herring.
Now, once inside you’re met with essentially a gurney covered in medical paper in the world’s hottest room. The screen does not work but there are many signs around the room telling you to access “more info” via the screen. I confirmed with the lovely service guy that the screen is an outdated service. The woman next door to me was on a speaker phone conversation, and in order to not suffocate you have to keep the ceiling ajar for airflow — no worries, they have a nice welcome note saying there are complimentary ear plugs and a sleep mask! Upon asking the fellow, that is also outdated. Have fun. It is hot, bright, loud, uncomfortable, and infuriating to get into after a long travel day. Two airport employees had to help me, and neither one guessed the key was WhatsApp, and only the second one had the faintest idea to use Booking.com, but had heard rumours of it being complicated.
This process was worsened by hearing, ALL NIGHT, confused and frustrated travellers going through the exact same process right outside my door. The first three times I popped out to help them and they were so grateful, but I had a flight to catch and wanted to relax so couldn’t be up the whole time. I could hear people cursing, trying desperately to get the touch screens to work, pacing back and forth, and one woman crying about how she just wanted to go to sleep and her phone was dying.
Anyways, two stars. I would have given ANYTHING for written, non-phone instructions about the process. This corner of the airport is known to employees as the confusion zone. Made worse by the fact that the employee break rooms are right beside it. So workers can’t walk to their break room without being inundated by travellers who just desperately want help. No one wants to help a frazzled traveller at 12pm check into a dystopian pod box when you only have fifteen minutes for your break, or you’re finally off work. I felt bad for everyone in...
Read moreDo not stay here. Hear me out: this entire airport has very hostile architecture. It is hard to find a place to sit or charge a phone let alone sleep. However, I wish I had saved my money and just slept on the hard floor somewhere because this was such a bad experience.
-The door didn't unlock until the third time I tried. -When I got inside, the entire touchscreen system rebooted, meaning that when I got up to use the bathroom and came back, I was locked out of my room until I scanned my passport again (which was trapped inside the capsule). I ended up pretending to scan it just to get inside. -It was hot and stuffy and the ventilation broke in the middle of the night and never came back on no matter what I tried. I had to sleep completely naked. -The beds are hard and small and it was impossible to get comfortable. You can tell they are never cleaned and the sheet was all over the place, so I felt very disgusting in the morning. There are no showers at your disposal and the airport bathrooms were dirty. -The capsules have no soundproofing so you can hear every single word people are whispering in the entire hallway. At 11pm and 5:30am, someone's child started having a meltdown and kept everyone up for at least an hour each time. At midnight, a family came and were all yelling at each other because the pods weren't working and yanking on every door. I don't blame them because the touchscreens are very glitchy and I also had problems checking in. There are no staff present to help you if you have issues. That being said, I wouldn't rely on others being considerate for you to get a good sleep here because I barely slept at all. -In the morning, all of the hardware that wasn't already broken in the capsule stopped working including the blinds and lights so I had to get dressed in the dark.
Please save your money. You will get a better sleep on the cold, hard floor in the airport. Shame on this place for taking people's money and providing such a horrible service.
Edit: my review was removed. I am reposting warning you that this company is trying to remove low reviews rather than fix...
Read moreThere is so many reasons why you should avoid these pods at any cost:
The touchscreens needed to access the pods are cheap and unreliable, making it likely that you will need to ask assistance to ENTER YOUR ROOM. This happened to the guy that slept on the room next to me. The assistance is a phone number that may or may not answer, so you are playing luck to enter your room. Acoustic isolation is inexistent, therefore you are going to be awaken by everyone that passes through with their heavy luggage and such. The bed is the worst offender, it feels like a bed taken out of a this beds used in ambulance to carry the injured. There is no pillow, only a gradient of level that is supposed to act like it. Such unlevel cannot be changed. There is a difference between uncomfortable and health hazard, and those beds are a danger for your spine. Their WiFi connection is not there, you have to use the airport's. The inside screen can be "turned off", that's nice, but it just goes blank, and therefore it is still emitting light! And quite strongly! On the picture you can see how much light the screen generates when "turned off". There are some storage drawers above the control touchscreen but they cannot be opened. What is the point? The password to enter the room is your phone number, that is not secure at all, it is something that a lot of people have.
In conclusion, don't use this service, is awful. It is not even worth trying once to see how "the experience is once in a lifetime" or because it is "quirky". I did it with that mentality and I deeply...
