I recently spent two nights at The Merchant House in Bahrain and was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of my stay. Without opting for breakfast, I had the chance to explore the vibrant culinary scene around the hotel — and its central location in the old town made that incredibly easy. Surrounded by authentic local restaurants and cultural sights, the hotel is perfectly situated for anyone wanting to experience the true spirit of Manama.

The hotel sits on a busy road, but the rooms are wonderfully quiet — a welcome retreat after a day out. The design is modern yet warm, with spacious rooms that feel both luxurious and relaxed. I especially appreciated the Jura coffee machine in my room — a small detail that made a big difference. The entire atmosphere strikes a balance between boutique charm and high-end comfort.

The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile with a genuine smile. The on-site coffee shop (Gray) deserves special mention — I had one of the best flat whites I’ve had in a long time!

Though compact, the gym was clean, modern, and had everything I needed for a quick workout. The small pool area was charming and perfect for a refreshing dip after a day exploring the city.

The hotel restaurant, with its floral design and open-air feel, provided a beautiful setting for dinner and is conveniently open until 11pm.

You’ll find well curated art everywhere in the hotel. A standout surprise was discovering a real Picasso in the library — just one of the many touches that make this place unique.

Overall, The Merchant House is a stylish oasis in the heart of the city. I’ll definitely return — and next time, I’ll...

Me and my friend had the worst stay in the merchant house! I’m a traveler lady and i have tried most of the 5 stars hotels around the world i had never seen this bad and ashamed hotel experience ever. even in a motel, they would never treat a guest as this way. First, the hygiene is very poor, i saw a black spot on the bath towel (which should be a clean towel).Second, on our last night at 12 pm they called me to ask if I’m checking out and i clearly stated that i want to extend for one night and i went back to sleep. After this, the manager (i think she's korean) came to my room and knocked on the door very hard and kept ringing the bell for many times! And surprisingly, the housekeepers did the same with knocking and ringing and opening the door on me while i’m in the room! I went down and i claimed to the same lady she told me sorry i have nothing to do i asked for a higher manager she didn’t respond or try to make my stay better for me. Actually, she made it worse by her rude way. Finally, on the day of checkout, i asked them to take my luggage to the car and they made me wait for 1 hour and then she told me that i have to pay for half day (for staying 1 extra hour). The worst part that she kept my car-key with her she refused to gave me until I opened my camera and told her that its not her right to do that and they made me take my luggage by myself to the car. I will take my rights from the ministry of tourism. I’m writing this for people to not have this...

Went to the indigo rooftop in the hotel for breakfast on a beautiful Saturday, sat outdoors and then indoors, simply did not want to leave the place. On Saturday’s they have a beautiful saxophone player around brunch (starts at 1pm) and lucky for us we heard some of the nice tunes. For breakfast we had the shakshooka and Kashmiri eggs, both tasty both worth it! The Kashmiri eggs I would definitely say are a taste you wouldn’t find anywhere else and that I would definitely come back for. The cappuccino was also good. The whole atmosphere was definitely worth the price, our bill came to BD 8 per person. + the staff are truly polite, assisting and have serve with amazing attitude ++ our cars were parked by valet upon entering the hotel which is great for the Bab Al Bahrain area in Manama
