This was our second visit to the Sandpiper, our first being in December. We loved it so much we just had to return! ||It really is a special place. Although almost full, the hotel never really seems to be that busy. There was plenty of spaces by the pools and at the beach. The hotel has a wonderful chilled, laid back ambience - whilst delivering first class service and exquisite dining options. We are self-confessed “foodies”, so usually avoid hotel food, but the Sandpiper is the exception. Food here is really high standard, and full of flavour. Portion sizes are big, so at lunch we tended to get 1 dish between 2. The staff are the stars of the show - everyone is so friendly. Yes there are a lot of repeat guests there (and now I’m one of them), but I never found it cliquey at all as I saw on another review…or felt others received better service. ||We stayed in Whimbrel, one of the treetop suites for most of our stay, then moved to Curlew - the treetop beachfront suite. Whimbrel is a lovely suite, wraparound balcony and your own plunge pool - which gets the sun all day. I’ve had a hip replacement so getting in/out required some help from my other half as it was quite a steep step down into the pool. Just something to be aware of. ||I didn’t think you could get a better room…until we moved to Curlew. Just wow! The space inside and out is amazing…but my goodness those views! Your glass balcony feels like it’s suspended just above the beach. It has its own good-sized plunge pool with steps leading into it. I found access easier than in Whimbrel. Again it had the sun all day, and I loved lying on the sun lounger watching all the comings and goings on the beach below, and listening to the sound of the waves. I will definitely stay here next time we come! ||When staying in one of the treetop suites, if you book half board you get upgraded to full board (certain conditions apply). You also get private transfers to/from the airport and fast tracked through passport control - which is great as typically those queues are long! From getting off the plane to arriving at the Sandpiper, only took about an hour max. ||So to summarise! ||Pros: treetop suites, and look out for full board upgrade offer. Great value for money. |Curlew suite - AMAZING! ||Cons: at the moment there is a hotel being built next door, which obviously the Sandpiper has no control over. There is construction noise due to that, with some rooms being closer to it than others. We were quite close to it, and I can honestly say it didn’t bother us at all. But we did speak to another couple who had changed rooms because of it. So just be aware of...
Read moreWe stayed at The Sandpiper in a one bedroom suite in May after having spent a week on the tiny island of Bequia in the Grenadines. Barbados was very busy in comparison!||Our room was outstanding, housekeeping was excellent, although the evening turn-down service was after 8.30pm on a couple of occasions, irritating primarily as I missed out on the lovely bedtime biscuit 🥰. The balcony was enormous and very well furnished and we found the kitchen area, particularly the fridge and coffee machine very useful. Our only comment relates to the construction occurring next door, it started every day every pre 6 am and continued well into the evening. Whilst inside the room, the impact was minimal but the balcony was noisy (and I am a very early riser). This is obviously a short-term problem which I appreciate the hotel tries to manage. ||Like many guests we opted for Breakfast only. This was a delight, superb choice of hot and cold options and my build my own bacon and egg bagel with a side of mushrooms made the lovely egg chef chuckle everyday. Morning juice shot was lovely. No need for lunch. We ate at the hotel twice in the evening, and the food and service was outstanding on both occasions, perhaps a little more relaxed outside at Jacks Bar, but entirely a personal preference, we enjoyed both. ||The hotel is situated very close to Holetown and it’s an easy walk to numerous restaurants and a large supermarket and medical centre (which we unfortunately did need to visit but it was a simple and quick experience). The 5 minute walk is very dusty (due to the aforementioned construction) and the road is pretty busy. ||I had a massage at Coral Reef which was an indulgent 80 minutes of calm. ||We walked along the beach every day and my husband disappeared for ages in the kayak. Getting into and out of the sea was easy and there was no seaweed. ||Overall, Sandpiper lived up to its excellent reviews and clearly is a home from home for its many repeat guests, which probably do get more attention from the management than first timers but we were very happy with our choice and would have no hesitation in recommending it or booking when we next...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the Sandpiper during the last week of May 2025. This was our first visit to Barbados. We enjoy traveling and the Sandpiper was recommended to us by another couple. ||Our experience at the Sandpiper was outstanding from the moment we booked our trip to the moment we checked out. The resort itself is beautiful, with very nice, clean rooms and lush landscaping. We stayed in room #3, which we would highly recommend. The food at the main restaurant and beach bar was very good, with several good menu options. The beach is beautiful and we spent much of day laying out in comfortable lounge chairs overlooking the beach and going for a swim. In addition to providing a pitcher of water by your lounge chair, every day a staff member would come by our lounge chairs in the late morning with homemade Sorbet ice cream. ||The entire staff at the Sandpiper were friendly, responsive and professional throughout our stay. Over the course of the week, we enjoyed getting to know many members of the team on a more personal level. My wife and I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and other parts of the world. The service and experience provided by the team at the Sandpiper is second to none. We found the other outstanding Trip Advisor reviews for the Sandpiper to be very accurate. After staying at the Sandpiper, we totally understand why so many guests return to the Sandpiper year after year.||To the entire team at the Sandpiper, thank you! This was the best vacation and all of you were the reason for such a wonderful and...
