The Rustic Chef — Restaurant in Holetown

Having eaten here in 2022 I came back to visit the Lime Grove restaurant in April 2025 whilst back on the island. Though the food was very nice, the service left a lot to be desired. I had just experienced a miserable waitress nearby at the Chef Hinds Restaurant & promptly left there before ordering anything. I actually greeted the waiter with " I hope you are friendlier here than at the Chef Hinds" ? & explained what had happened. (To no effect obviously ) I asked for tap water & a lot of it as I had been walking in the hot sun for over two hrs. What seemed like ten minutes later the same male waiter finally appeared with my water which I promptly poured myself & I ordered a drink & my food. The food & drink arrived but I was then left to carry on topping up my own glass of water and the waiter only came to ask how everything was as I had almost finished. No one came to ask if I would like anything else and once I'd finished my drinks I ended up going to the small reception desk and waiting for someone to appear from the cooking area, 🙄 from where eventually a lady came out to take my money. Poor customer service & a disappointing experience for me at two restaurants...

Initially great service turned awful! The staff had poor communication and were very slow with bringing the bill. I went with a friend group and one person ordered a meal to takeaway. We were offered a table on the side away from the main dining area to sit at while we waited, and when seated the other persons in the group were offered the range of menus to order from. We decided to order the food “to go” but explained that we would start eating there. We were almost finished the meal, noting that during that time no one came with the bill, when a different worker appeared and told us that we would either have to leave since we ordered “to go” meals or pay a service charge to stay. We decided to leave and asked for the bill, and it took another five minutes before we had to ask a second worker to bring it. After another period of waiting, we asked a third worker for the bill and when it was finally brought, lo and behold a service charge was included. It was extremely disappointing to be treated like we were after it was poor communication by staff that led to this, and I will not be returning and I will discourage further persons from patronizing this...

Great Service

Went to celebrate a birthday with friends the waiter who seated us was amazing, we didn’t get his name however he was quite tall we were seated within seconds of arriving. The waiter wasn’t afraid to engage with us and suggested we get some drinks while we took a look at the menu and he made some great suggestions for drinks like the Moscow Mule, Sunrise Mimosa and Purple Rain. We started with a chicken flatbread and he suggested a salmon linguine however my friends wanted chicken instead and didn’t know if it was possible but our kind waiter made it possible and a short time after we finished the food came hot and ready. He also periodically checked up on us to ensure everything was going well. Then came dessert there wasn’t a physical menu so we didn’t think there were any desserts however he let us know all the desserts and assured the birthday person they’ll be taken care of. When the desserts came along with another tall lady in a black shirt they made the birthday person feel special playing the Lil Rick happy birthday song, dancing and singing towards the table.
