My family absolutely loved our weeklong stay at the Grand Caribe Belize. We stayed in a 2-Bedroom Seaview. My son and I loved sitting on our patio for breakfast looking out over the pools and ocean while everything was peaceful and quiet in the mornings.
The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious. Both the master and secondary bathroom have luxurious walk in showers, the master being the larger with double doors. The kitchen is equipped with basic appliances, convenient to have available though we really only used the refrigerator, toaster and coffee pot. The complimentary coffee they provided was a nice touch, and definitely enjoyed throughout our stay. The only minor complaint I could make about the accommodations is that you need to leave your bedroom doors open at night for air circulation. We figured that out after waking up in a sweat the first night.
The service staff at this hotel go above and beyond. Ethan at the front desk helped us book dinner reservations almost every evening, providing a variety of recommendations to meet our needs (kid friendly menu options). Our favorite was the Purple Pelican, where a large crocodile swam right under the patio while we were sitting safely above it! The daily cleaning staff did a great job for us. And the laundry service (same-day cleaned and folded) was particularly nice to have. If I'd known ahead, maybe I could have packed a smaller suitcase, haha.
Location-wise, it was great to have golf cart rental and parking available through the hotel. I found the hotel to be situated conveniently between Secret Beach and downtown so that it's not too far of a drive to either location (20-30 minutes depending on where you're going). There's also restaurants close by allowing you to avoid driving at all. Aqua and Rain on-site are good but a little pricey. Aji's a few buildings down the road has tables right on the beach.
Perhaps most conveniently, for excursions booked through the hotel, guides can pick you up by boat right on the hotel dock. We were only able to take advantage of this once, as halfway through the week the "Easter Winds" picked up and we had to cancel our snorkel trip. We learned this can be common in April, something to take into consideration for deciding when to book next time! Would absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI booked Grand Caribe last minute as a solo getaway to reset & cleanse myself after my beloved dog passed away. GC more than exceeded my expectations. I set up transportation to pick me up from San Pedro airstrip for $22.50 one way. Everyone at GC was just so pleasant and helpful. Always with smiles on their faces. I felt so safe and welcomed. Alma at the front desk greeted me and showed me the resort and to my room. I was welcomed with a rum punch to begin my stay. The lobby smells so nice btw. The resort was spotless and quite lovely. It is clear they take pride in this property. The flora and fauna were thriving. My room was near one of the pools and was perfect. The pools were so relaxing and perfect with a nice pool bar. Fresh flowers were placed on many of the towels in the bathroom & on my bed. The shower was tiled nicely and was spacious. They even do your laundry for free which is so fabulous!!!! I walked next door to Aji and had some fabulous conch ceviche for lunch. For dinner I walked to Tropical Escape & everything was so delicious!!! Definitely check those places out
Shout out to Sam & Jason from the activities hut. My snorkeling trip was canceled and Sam was able to call the activities desk & arrange to get me on one that left directly from the GC. I am glad he did because quite an amazing thing happened on that trip regarding my dog saying hello to me through another dog on Caye Caulker. Such a magical & emotional moment for me. =) Tuff Snuff was the tour group and they were AWESOME. Free kayaks, snorkel gear & paddleboards were a huge plus. I loved kayaking from the dock!!
I rented a golf cart through Rock's Golf Carts & went to Secret Beach. More of a party scene I have to say, but Sunset Palace was great if you wanted to escape the party vibes of the other beach clubs there. They dropped the cart right off at GC. Go check out Cool Beans cafe in San Pedro for breakfast. Beautiful view & delicious food.
I only had a few days on Ambergris Caye and Grand Caribe was the perfect place to spend it to relax & reset. Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I joined 4 other friends in Unit G9 at the Grand Caribe last week to celebrate Thanksgiving there together...arrived Friday, 16 November 2018 and departed Saturday, 24 November 2018. Unit G9 is very nicely located within the Grand Caribe Resort. 3rd Floor views from the main living area balcony are pretty spectacular without much direct sunlight on the balcony itself, so we could sit out there with our morning coffees and afternoon drinks without overheating. G9 has all the dishes, utensils, pots, pans, appliances, bed and bathroom and kitchen linens to easily accommodate six guests on a daily basis, no problem. The daily housekeeping service is very efficient and professional, and the complimentary laundry services were very appreciated. I do wish the owners would allow guests access to the washer and dryer so we could do some of our own laundry...not everyone is always okay with strangers handling our dirty drawers. Our friends staying in the upstairs master bedroom had numerous problems with the dedicated HVAC system providing appropriate climate control at night. Maintenance crew was quick to respond each time we reported the problem, but the problem persisted throughout our stay. That should get fixed. Downstairs climate control was never an issue. As for the Grand Caribe Resort itself, we loved the property. Excellent location within easy walking distance of half a dozen great food joints (big shout-out to the Truck Stop and Aji!). Grounds are meticulously maintained, and pool is kept perfectly clean and sanitary at all times. Poolside bar is awesome...and another big shout-out to bartenders Germaine and Bryan for giving the place a great personality and for making killer Jungle Juice! All encounters with the Front Desk were professional and friendly. I should also mention housekeeper Ruby is a lovely girl who did an incredible job of taking care of our unit during our entire stay. We are already looking forward to our next visit to the Grand Caribe, but maybe in a...
