white middle-aged picnic in the middle of beautiful and ethnically diverse belize.
I came to belize to experience the culture and food, but if youre trying to escape Belizian culture altogether and visit somewhere that looks like a beer garden back home in the USA, this is your place.
The atmosphere - I have to say that honestly places like this upset me a bit. This isnt an attempt to lightly remind you of home as much as a blatant refuting of the local culture. It is safe though, well-lit, and about ten minutes south of captain morgan resort or about twelve minutes north of the bridge. Youre driving down a paved road filled with golf carts, and suddenly youll hear classic rock, southern hits, and see a sea of people that clearly arent from here. There is a decent enough bathroom, several food places, and a swim up bar and pool. All in all, if you want to see, feel, and hear good ol USA, this is your spot.
My thoughts - I just dont understand. Why would you come all the way to a beautiful place like Ambergris Caye, and want to feel like youre at a southern, all-white picnic? I was generally disappointed, but for who this place was meant, they'll enjoy it. Technically very little is wrong here, but i just generally reject the idea of a white middle aged southern picnic in the middle of beautiful and ethnically...

Read moreWe ordered food which was marginal at best. After dinner my husband and a friend ordered beers. The waiter came up behind him to deliver the beers. My husband didn’t see him coming from behind and swung his arm just at the time the beers were being delivered. The beers spilled off of the tray. The waiter gave my husband a terrible look and walked away. Over 15 minutes later the waiter returned and said “we reviewed our video and you swung your arm and spilled the beers. It is your fault and we will not replace the beers. We attempted to reason with him and the manager because it was clearly an accident. The manager was rude and dismissive. All of this over two beers that spilled accidentally. The spilled beers are not a big issue. The issue is the fact that they treated my husband like he spilled the beers on purpose somehow. We paid for and tipped the waiter in advance of him even delivering the beers. This is how they treat their customers. I would not recommend The Truck Stop there are much better dining on Ambergris Caye...
