At 11:00 Pm I asked the front desk for water. The man answered by saying room service is closed and proceeded to close the phone on my face. Upon this incident I went down to the lobby to see who this man was and why he cannot at least guide me to see where I can buy water. He then told me to go back to my country and responded to me with racism saying things like I am not welcome in Brazil. Another kind gentleman helped me to the back office in which I was then able to fill my bottle, a simple solution that was not presented at the beginning and instead I was met with racism and an unnecessary argument with an grumpy man.
The initial room I booked was absolutely filthy with dust on the floor and headboard and pillows with stains on them (one even looked like a footprint) however we were compensated generously with an upgraded, clean room.
The best and only good part about this hotel is it’s ideal location and breakfast which was great. Other than that, staff were unhelpful and some were even RACIST. You are highly likely to experience some sort of dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of their rooms and their photos online were extremely deceiving.
The only nice employee was Camila who was extremely helpful and welcoming. And as for that racist gentleman I hope no one else has to experience his distasteful attitude and...
Read moreThis average "4 star" hotel is really not.||Positives|Great location- close to Copacabana beach, lots of shops and restaurants nearby with Metro station.|Helpful staff that assisted us in booking tours.||Negatives||Upon arrival we paid extra for early check-in, but our room hadn't been cleaned properly, and we had to get room seevice to clean it and change the dirty pillow cases. The breakfast was the same everyday with no variety, and the dining room was small, at busy periods you had to queue for a table.||There was only one lift working out of two, so we had to wait quite a while everyday we were their.|Room service was extremly difficult to book via QR code, and we ended going to reception which defeated the object.||Very few English speaking staff, so it was very difficult to communicate what we required. Overall this hotel to bring it up to 4 star standard it needs a facelift as it is really a tired hotel. Also to include tea/coffee and shower gel facilities in the room like many 4 stars hotel's around the world. My tip is to bring your own kettle and iron. ||To sum up this hotel up, overall we had a comfortable stay. Its not the worst but some improvements could bring this up to a 4 star hotel and make customers stay a more...
Read moreWe visited this hotel in January 23. It's about 30 minutes from the airport and cost 65 $R in an Uber. The first thing that welcomes you is an auto check in, great if you're Brazilian but impossible to do if you're not. It requests a CPF number, which only Brazilians have. Eventually the staff took pity on us and photocopied our passports like most other hotels. They then rewarded us with much appreciated welcome drink. Its located in a great part of Copacabana, a few minutes walk from the beach. There's also a metro stop right outside the front door, along with bikes you can hire (if you have a Brazilian SIM card in your phone). There are numerous cafés, bars and supermarkets as well some really interesting shopping malls nearbye. Breakfast is wonderful, a self serve buffet. The roof top pool (with view of Redeemer statue) is a real bonus for when it's just too hot to hit the beach.
Some tips: Whilst most shops accept credit cards, many, in particular supermarkets, only accept ones issued in Brazil.
Sugar loaf: Don't waste your time trying to buy online tickets, system is rubbish and only exists to collect personal data. Pay cash on arrival, far quicker and less queuing.
The weather forecast is...
