So first up we must say that two of the receptionists Filippe & Tais were fantastic helpful. Unfortunately the rest of them aspired to terrible and would only speak to you using google translate!||We found a significant number of the staff just not up to the job. - at the bar on the top floor one afternoon I stood there alone whilst the bar man and a waitress stood at the bar ignoring me as they played on their phones. At their rooftop oriental restaurant where we had booked a meal the woman on door could not have dealt with us with more contempt. When we got seated and selected drinks the waiter then told me that of the long list of beers they had they only two in stock, And having finished our main course we waited for the waiter to take our dessert order. We're still waiting. Instead he chose to just give us our bill. - in defence of the chefs the food was very good but let down by the waiting staff.||The breakfast is very good with a wide selection and in fairness the breakfast waiting staff are very good|,|Our biggest gripe was the hotel key cards needed to use the lifts and access your room. Its difficult to get around the hotel without them. But every day without exception they would stop working usually when we were using the rooftop pool and as we couldn't get into the lifts we consequently each day we found ourselves having to go down the fire exit stairwell where the lights were not working on some floors - so if the hotel did have to be evacuated there would have been panic and carnage in the darkness, On one occasion we went to get the keycards changed and one receptionist, who was clearly doing nothing despite a long queue of people checking in, just stared at us when I asked about the keycards being changed and instead of assisting she instead picked up her handbag and walked off into a staff only area.||The rooftop pool is lovely ( and the view is sensational) but its small so in high season would fill up quickly. And the hotel gym is farcically small with little space between the handful of treadmills, cycling and rowing machines and poorly air conditioned||The room is adequate - although the bed was very good. However clothes storage is minimal - not enough hangers. And we've never stayed in an alleged four star hotel with no tea/coffeemaking facilities in the room. Neither have we stayed in a hotel where the TV had no English language international news service - instead there was an option to use your own Netflix access and ultimately there was only YouTube that could be readily used.||The mall nearby is really an airport mall with a handful of restaurants which are, at best, average. I felt deceived by this hotel, the Prodigy Santos Dumont. I booked a standard room, expecting a mid-range room, something that perhaps didn't have the best view but would be decent. Instead, the hotel put me in a room that essentially had no window and certainly no view. There is a piece of glass but it didn't open and provided a 'view' onto a nearby white wall only. I'm not talking about an obscured view but instead simply a white wall. The room was dark and felt entombing. I immediately brought up my concern to the front desk, where I was told that was the room I booked -- the standard room. I was offered other rooms with exactly the same setup. I was told about 20 of the rooms in the hotel have that kind of 'view,' basically 1% of the rooms. I contacted the manager of the hotel and was told too bad, but if I wanted to pay more they would upgrade me. I contacted the CEO of the hotel group that manages the hotel -- Grupo Wish -- and was ignored. The hotel is next to the domestic airport and that makes it relatively easy to get taxis and it's also connected to a shopping mall where there are dining options. The photos the hotel posts for its marketing are not accurate for much of the hotel. Yes there is rooftop with the kind of stunning views that make Rio famous. Maybe some rooms have views, but judging from where my room was placed and others along the same hallway there are others just like mine. The hallways are very long and dark and, if not scary feeling, at least very poor quality. There's not much insulation so you hear people in the hallways. No amenities like bottles of water. The room itself would be fine -- if there were a window. Yes, little things like a weird sink that sprays water around but nothing I couldn't live with for a few days. The problem is, being in this room felt like being in a dark closet. When you are stuck in a room with no window in a stunning city like Rio, it's deeply sad. Don't let Prodigy Santos Dumont ruin...

I stayed at Prodigy Hotel Santos Dumont for 4 days during my trip in Rio De Janeiro, I was impressed by the Hotel locations, service and facilities. It surprised me, the hotel is connected to Santos Dumond Airport so convinient for me to catch my flight. The hotel also offers free shutle service to and from the airport. Wife and Parking are well available.The room was spacious and comfortable, with flat screen TV, a mini bar and a nice bathroom. The best part of the room was the stunning view of the ocean and the sugar loaf mountain! so relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The hotel has also an infinity room which aslo give you the breath taking view of the Sugar loaf and other amazing views. Fitness center also available with modern equipment and sauna was very soothing. They also have spa that offered various treatment and massage, I did not try, but i heard good things about. The hotel has restuarant that serve international cousine, they had dishes from different countries, such as pasta, sushi, stake and salad. I had my breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, and was satisfying, the food quality and a lot of choices. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options from fruits and cerals to eggs and pastries. Overall, i had a wonderful stay at Prodigy Hotel Santor Dumond and I would highly recomment to anyne who is looking for a 5-star hotel and affordable. The hotel has everything...
