Xian Rio — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

Beautiful japanese restaurant on the top floor of the Bossa Nova Mall. The views of the Guanabara Bay and the Gloria Marina are superb. The restaurant occupies a large area in the mall and the waiting area is quite pleasant: they've installed a small salmon pool nearby the seating space along with a few slides for kids to go merrily around the fishes. This was a very creative and innovative way to make the client experience unique from the start. The food tastes amazing and the menu has a variety of options which allows one to enjoy a full meal without regretting or feeling less of the experience. It covers classic starters, a few local flavours for mains, typical hot food, others not so typical, but very creative, beverages and cocktails, and delicious homemade desserts. I'm afraid though there aren't too many vegan options. Despite this, everyone is welcome, as certainly the views will not disappoint and the drinks at the bar make a fair point not to be missed (caipirinha is one of the best in town). The restaurant is divided in three sections: the bar, the tables indoors, and the tables outdoors. There's also a separate room for private parties with a long table in the center (only available upon reservations in advance), which may suit you. As far as I could gather, this separate room may include full service of house staff, or can be tailored depending on client's desires. If you're going to Xian for food, there's no need to make reservations for tables, although on weekends usually the queues are long, and therefore they include people's names in order of appearance on a list right at the entrance. Waiting time for your name to show up on the top of that list may vary but I would rather say that it can be slow on busy days. At some nights (must check on their website), the place turns into a nightclub with DJ music and people from all over town. The terrace will be perfect spot for clubbing. It's amazing. I would pick summer parties as the best ones: greater chances for clear and starry skies. Remember to take your camera to this restaurant if you're going for the views. It's not too much to add that the place is extremely close to Santos Dumont Airport, so you might want to combine your visit with an exquisite Japanese food experience in Rio. Not to...

I went to XIAN for lunch today around 12:30p and sat in the bar area with ticket number 505.

Although the server was attentive, when I asked for wine he said they had no wine list and that the sommelier would come help me with a wine selection. I ordered my food and when it arrived ten minutes later I asked about the sommelier, server said he was on his way. I ate my food and another fifteen minutes went by. No sommelier, no wine. I asked again and I was assured he would come. Another five minutes went by, no sommelier, no wine. I gave up on asking for wine since at that point I had finished my meal.

I then asked for a capisake since I was at the bar and assumed I would be served quickly. It took them another ten minutes and me asking about the capisake to get the drink in hand. It had been sitting at the bar all along and they claimed to have a miscommunication.

Beautiful place with horrible lazy waiters with no manners... first we wait 25mn before getting some attention from waiters who werent busy at all. We finally asked to order and because my sister was a bit hesitating on some food he turned his back and went away without saying anything. Very rude.. The waiters litterally ignored us on purpose. We wait a long time every time we needed to order new things eventhu the place wasnt busy. They forgot to serve our beer on the 2nd order and they left it on the bar for 10mn in the heat without bringing it to our tableI had to make myself heard to have him server the beer. Which they finally did without apologizing. Finally they pulled a long grumpy face when we decided not to pay the 10% for the service. Those lazy guys who on top of this speak no english and still work in an airport should be fired, such an awesome place with an awesome view should not hire...
