I love this place and will probably stay nowhere else. The hostel is in an historic 1930s building in what used to be Sofia's Jewish quarter but has now become a rather international district full of Syrian and Asian shops, cheap eats and second hand stores. The house is tucked back in a side street off Sofia's main bazaar and surrounded by atmospheric walled gardens and hence quiet. Some younger folks may not like the fact that there are few clubs nearby- it's a residential area and hence not for late night drinking. But it is a cheap taxi or tram ride to the center- only about 5 minutes away- and personally I like the quiet. Of course as a hostel it is basic, but still has everything you need. The young people who run it are very kind and totally willing to carry cases up the stairs for a 60+ like me, offer coffee and let you have a fag out the back balcony. The kitchen is well stocked and I cannot think of anything these young men will not do to help, such as find you an honest taxi (this can be an issue in central Sofia) make bookings or help with minor translations. I liked the look of the private rooms- very modern- but as arrived late shared a dorm which was comfortable enough. Highly recommended unless walking-distance...
Read moreI only have good things to say about this hostel, especially if you're looking for somewhere cozy and quiet. It's in a good location (very central), and the rooms were nice too -- not to mention it was very affordable for any budget. There's plenty of places to cook with a full kitchen, so it's great for all kinds of travelers from solos and groups of friends to couples and families. It is an old building but has been renovated well, and the furniture as well as the decor/lighting/ambiance are all very comforting and attractive. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were nice and warm at night too. There was plenty of hot water and it was very safe as well. The only negative thing about it was that the shower didn't have a shower door and the staff weren't around very often. But seeing as how there was free, fast Wi-Fi and a very unobtrusive staff, I was happy nonetheless. One thing to mention is that if you're looking for more of a social hostel scene, you might want to try Hostel Mostel instead. Overall, I had a great experience here and definitely...
Read moreThe location was excellent. We had free parking because it was a weekend. Our host welcomed us in at our midnight arrival and also let us wait until the next morning to change our money. Really liked the common room, the kitchen area and made a few friends there.||||Unfortunately we were missold on the air conditioning. Booking.com says all the rooms are air conditioned - they are not! With the temperature being 42 degrees heat it was extremely difficult to get to sleep and did ruin our experience here. We found other dorms did have air conditioning (and paid the same price as us). This was unacceptable.||||But thank you so much to our Serbian host who was a really nice man and we wish him and his...
