Very cool experience - Thanks Petya!

My wife and me really enjoyed our visit and absolutely recommend it if you have about 2 hours during your stay in Sofia. It was very fun and at the same time very insightful. We felt like little children exploring the world of illussions. Our experince was even better because of the great girl working there - Petya. She definitely made our day and we are sure that without her it would have been half as interesting. Petya is one of the most engaged persons we have ever met. You could see how passioned she is about her job and that she really loves it. While most of the workers just stood around and never said anything, she kept an eye on us and without even asking her, she was approaching every time to explain what is the enigma behind the illusions. This was great, because otherwise often you see something, but do not understand what is behind the illusion and why our brain or eyes do not catch it. Petya's explanations definitely made our visit much more enjoyable. Not only was she explaining it with enthusiasm, smile and sparking eyes, but also in a manner easy to understand.

Thank you very much Petya!! Keep it going that way. With you and your inspiring way of being the visits of the museum are a completely different experience!

Greetings The couple speaking German, Bulgarian...

A fun experience for people of all ages! The museum houses a truly interactive exhibition and you're invited to try all the tricks on display. Each exhibit has an interesting, brief description in both Bulgarian and English. You can enjoy a variety of optical illusions and take some really fun photos.

It's best to visit the museum during the week, as it can get quite hectic on the weekends. It takes around an hour to go around the whole exhibition floor, read about each trick, and try it yourself. The admission fee is 21 Bulgarian leva for adults and 17 leva for students and pensioners. Kids under 7 years old go in for free and there are bundle tickets for families with two kids.

If you've enjoyed the experience, you can get a souvenir or a trick from the small but diverse gift shop on the first floor. There's a bathroom, hangers, and lockers on the second floor where the exhibition is. Unfortunately, I didn't see an elevator to the second floor nor a wheelchair ramp at the entrance, so I wouldn't call the museum accessible for wheelchair users.

Overall, it was a great experience that created some real...

This is a wonderful place to spend an hour or two. There are things to look at and things to do, and you are sure to get a nice collection of pictures. The kids absolutely loved the museum. However, almost every illusion I had seen before online or in books. There are also many other examples or types of illusions which are particularly colorful or fun that could have been shown in this museum but weren’t. They do have pretty good explanations next to each exhivit but there’s so much more available. It was one small floor, 5 rooms. For the price of 21 leva (€ 11), I think it should be bigger with more variety but the kids had a blast. Recommend it for a city outing with kids.
