This place was a bit interesting. They're fairly new so everything is nice and clean. When I arrived I had sent a message through booking.com asking for an airport pick up (couldn’t find any other way to contact them). I made this hooking about a month in advance. Two days before I am set to arrive I get a response from them explaining how much the transfer costs and how much taxi/public transport cost. It was nice to have a little honesty, and given the lack of communication I had already decided to take a taxi but it would have been nice to have some communication a little earlier. ||||When I arrived at the hostel the gate was locked (it is never not locked) I banged on the gate, rang the ringer a dozen times and had no response. So I sat out side the gate for about 10-15 minutes and finally a delivery man arrived, and he rung the bell a few times and then went around the back and opened the gate (so technically maybe not all that secure). Coming from America where it is quite expense to get cell service I don’t know what I would have done had the delivery guy not let me in.||||The manager was inside the whole time waiting for me, which was a little frustrating because clearly their doorbell thing doesn’t work or he just ignored it. I had booked a private room and the first one he showed me was small but clean, unfortunately without air conditioning and its only window opened to the patio where people smoke, drink and socialize. He offered me a different room because it was cooler at no extra cost, which I accepted and that was nice. The room lacked considerable privacy because it was directly off the lobby and its entire wall was frosted glass with curtains that seemed to always leave several inches on either side. The manager also took me on a brief walk of the neighborhood suggesting restaurants, places to change money, and generally was being very friendly. He even offered me slippers. But he also gave me his phone number and explained that he doesn’t stay at the hostel unless he is expecting guests and most of the time the hostel is unstaffed. Which seemed like it was the case because over the few days I was there that was the only time I saw him. Granted I was out most of the day everyday, but still that was a little odd to me and I've never had a guest house/hostel just give me keys and peace out like that.||||I also booked this placed because I assumed it would be an affordable quiet place to stay. Until the other occupants came home at 4:50 in the morning and turned on the lobby lights, which isn't a big deal unless your entire wall is frosted glass and suddenly your room is brighter than daylight. Not to mention the place has so many doors and they all require a little effort to close meaning that anytime someone leaves, goes to the bathroom, goes into their room, there is a lot of audible slamming and banging. ||||Clearly this place is new and has a few kinks to work out. This place really isn't meant for the people who are on the euro hostel tour but they stay here anyway because it has a great location, it's clean and new, and relatively cheap. I give this place 3 stars because there really isn't any ot the social spaces that make it hostel-y and it's not quiet put together enough to he a guest house. But it's location is awesome and if you value you privacy and can deal with the occasional late night door slam this place will due just fine. I'd definitely stay here again, but maybe only after exploring similarly...
Read moreSome friends and I stayed here, with my son, back in December (2016) and had no trouble at all here. We booked via Airbnb and communication was great. Very professional and efficient from booking, through to check in/out. The room we stayed in was more than ample for our needs, it was clean and warm, had a beautiful tree mural on the wall, and had a little tv if we were bored. We each had a bed (Double and 3 x twin) and it wasn't cramped at all!! The toilets were opposite, and a little kitchen area is a little further up on the left, whilst the showers were near reception. There are 4 showers in the room, but when i went i just locked myself in, there was never any queues and the hot water never ran out!! ||||I can understand why previous reviews complained of the noise at night, but it didn't really affect us at all. Our door was quite noisy as it slid open, but it never woke my son, and didn't affect our stay or bother us at all. I presume we were visiting during a quiet period, as didn't really have any noisy "neighbours", although i guess it's the luck of the draw, depending on who is staying at the same time!! ||||Rudy on reception was wonderful, check-in was efficient, with no issues getting in. The location is literally 5 minutes from the main Boulevard, though you can miss it if you aren't looking as there isn't a huge sign, and it looks like a regular residential entry gate. We were handed the keys upon arrival (we had emailed to confirm our arrival time) and given a tour of the place, as well as lots of hints and recommendations. Location was great for our needs, and everything was easily accessible on foot.||||All in all, we had a wonderful few days, no complaints from us about the room, staff or anything else. It was clean, convenient and exactly...
Read moreI stayed here for 3 nights whilst I explored Sofia. It is in a great central location. The street it is on looks a bit unloved but it is literally 50m from the main pedestrian boulevard. 2 minutes to walk but nice and quiet. It was an easy 10-15 minute walk to the main Serdika Metro station.|Reception were very helpful, spoke good English and were happy to give ideas of places to visit, eat and drink. Reception isn't 24 hour but they are there at various points in the day. They also gave me a card (also gives discounts at various local bars and restaurants) with their contact number and they are only 10 minutes away. When I texted they responded in minutes and were found promptly.|Clean and basic, with refurbished toilets and showers with no queues when I was there. There is a small communal area with sink, kettle, tea and coffee and a fridge. The weekend I was there everyone was quiet and friendly.|The only issue I had was that the room was a bit cold and the radiators never came on. The communal areas never felt too cold. When I mentioned it they quickly brought round a fan heater but I never did understand why the heating wasn't on. Maybe in Sofia people only put the heating on when...
