As the title suggests we checked in here and we're in 3 different rooms in 24 hours. I'll start off by saying the hotel staff is very nice and they did the best they could, this is not a review on them. I can only deduce from my experience that the hotel is under poor management and not properly maintained. |Our first room was nice until the A/C unit started spraying water all over the floor. Luckily I didn't have any of my belongings near when that happened.|I wrote that one off to bad luck maybe one bad unit and reluctantly changed rooms. They included a fruit plate along with an apology which I thought was nice.|My second room was promising , pretty clean and a really nice room. After an exhausting day of walking around I came back to find my A/C wasn't working in my new room. I called the front desk and they poked around and went on the roof but no luck. The staff then offered me another room. After unpacking, packing up, then unpacking again I couldn't bare the idea of moving rooms again. I was so upset by that point I couldn't even speak with the staff, I needed a few minutes to myself. I came to the realization that I really didn't have a choice in the matter, I could stay miserable in my hot room or accept this 3rd room that is being offered. Feeling utterly defeated, covered in sweat, and in desperate need of a shower I packed my bags again and went to my new-new room. This room was nice and the A/C worked great, everything seemed good and I was in the mood to watch some TV and just try and move on from what happened. Then the power goes out. I started laughing, laying in bed feeling completely insane at this point. Once the power came back on the TV didn't work. The staff said the TV service was out all over town, that couldn't be true because straight outside my window was a window in a home and they had TV working fine after the power outage. I'm thinking the cable/satellite tuner just wasn't turned on. Anyways that's just speculation. Again the staff brought me a fruit plate to apologize for the room change etc. at this pony I felt bad because I know the staff is doing probably the best they can but another fruit plate wasn't going to fix it this time. I've worked in the hospitality industry at hotels for 3 years and after that amount of upset to a guest I was expecting a free dinner at least if not my night's stay free. None of that was offered as a recovery. ||When I checked in I was thinking 4 or 5 stars for sure seeing all the good reviews and having a good first impression when I checked in. The lack of maintenance and managerial oversight resulted in me feeling like I was being carted around the hotel from room to room packing my bags over and over. |The simplest solution I can provide as feedback is to have a senior staff member check guests' rooms prior to check-in. Verify everything is working properly and perform regular maintenance on all of the utilities in the room. |I felt saddened by my negative experience because this place really does have a lot of potential: the rooms are nice, kind staff, decent location, clean facilities; it's just totally lost on...
Read moreIn 2012 my wife and I had the privilege of being guests for a period of 3 weeks at the MotherHome Guest House and were extremely impressed with the excellency of service and Khmer hospitality and honor. ||We were so impressed we told many of the great impression we were left with and posted a very good Trip Advisor Report accordingly. ||||In 2013 we again took the opportunity of being guests however on that occasion we were disturbed by the rowdiness of the the other guests who were mainly short term Chinese stayers and I advised the owner of our disappointment and did not post a favorable report. However I did withdraw that unfavorable report so as not to bring bad news for the owner and the MotherHome Guest House. ||||This year 2016 my wife and I and two other ladies we brought with us were extremely disappointed at how bad things had become. ||It would seem that the management of this MotherHome Guest House has deteriorated very badly and it is something that I made the owner be aware of. ||||On 28/6/2015 I made reservations for 3 rooms with specific instructions with a guarantee that 2 rooms would be adjoining. ||The dates of occupancy were to be 25th. January to 12th Feb 2016 so I had booked and received confirmation some 7 months well in advance. ||However when we arrive on Monday 25th. January we were told that we could not occupy the rooms we had reserved on the ground floor as they were occupied by other guests. As my wife and I are approaching 80 yrs we refused to have to climb the stairs and this became an extremely embarrassing situation for us. We had received a number of confirmations but upon arrival that confirmation was broken which was a very embarrassing start for us. ||During our stay, we noticed many changes had taken place and the high quality and standard we had previously experienced was no longer there. ||Our team of four experienced, water leaking all over the floor, squeaky door, no fridge, security safe not bolted down, bed bugs, mice running through our room and have had to have a number of room changes.||The foam mattress had chunks out of it as well.||Because we have used Motherhome Guest House on our last 3 visits to cambodia and stay at the GuestHouse for up to 3 weeks each time we are certainly in a position to authenticate how poorly the statandard has become since our first...
Read moreAs their slogan says "At MotherHome you are genuinely cared for". I would really attest to that as we really felt so cared for during our stay. Most of the hotels are fully booked already due to the holiday season so we made last minute booking here, and I'm glad we did.||||The room & amenities: Nothing fancy but it has basic amenities, inclusive of wifi. There was problem with our aircon on the night we arrived, but they immediately fixed it. Our room was on the ground floor and I can't remember hearing loud noises at night as my sleep was so peaceful during our stay. Breakfast was also inclusive and I'd say, it's pretty decent given that this is a budget stay.||||The location: It's not close to the main road so I think it's one of the reasons why it's quite at night. There are no nearby convenience stores but you can always walk a bit and you will be able to find food stalls. Just be careful at night as the alleys don't have much lamp posts so it's a bit dark. You can also hire TukTuk and they can pick you up from the guesthouse.||||The service: I think their service is really the reason why a lot of people go here. Their staff are really friendly and helpful. Some of them may struggle to speak English, but they will really try to attend to your needs. Our schedule was a bit tight and we had to check out early and go on a tour. They allowed us to leave our luggage at no extra charge. ||||We were scheduled to take the night bus en route to Phnom Penh but we came back a bit early as it was too hot outside. We asked the staff if there's any available room that we can take for us to rest while we're waiting for our bus to Phom Penh. Unfortunately, they were fully booked already but the staff told us that we can stay in the lobby. Few minutes after, their staff came back with hot towel and tea. They also told us that there's a shower room at the back that we can use if we want to freshen up. How good can that be?||||It was a pleasant experience overall and I would recommend this place to anyone hunting...
