My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay for one night in the falls for our Anniversary weekend. We opted in for the Niagara Inn as it was one of the few places that had available rooms, (albeit not at a great price, but better than any other remaining options) and we didn't plan to spend a lot of time in the motel.
Upon arrival, staff was polite (or at least appeared to be initially during the check-in process). However, things quickly changed when we got into the room (we stayed in room 15- this has also been documented). We brought liquids and wanted to keep our water and food in the fridge. However, when we opened the fridge, we were shocked to find the entire fridge infested with black mold inside all around. The smell and amount of mold was shocking; it was disgusting and unsafe (tried to attach pics- my review got blocked multiple times). We almost vomited at the site and the smell of the spores that came out when we opened the door. On top of that, the room also had a dent on the washroom door and unwashed towels, some of which had holes in them and did not smell relatively clean.
We elected not to create issues with Niagara Inn and tried to work around these issues to just enjoy our stay.
To our SHOCK, we were charged a security deposit of $200 for damages we did NOT cause in the room 2 DAYS AFTER our stay (we stayed on the 21st to the 22nd, they contacted my phone on Monday the 23rd), leaving only a voice mail before deciding to charge my card without reaching me to discuss. The state of the room was exactly as we found it. Now, we are being charged $200 to cover damages we did not cause to the room, and they refuse to discuss it any further. We even tried to keep everything neat and tidy prior to leaving the room. The fact that they contacted us claiming damages two days later was suspicious, and we knew by the state of the fridge that this was likely a recurring event. We were extremely disappointed by the lack of adequate customer service and resolution for what we had to deal with in the room (on top of charging my card). We should have been reimbursed or accommodated to some level for the state of the room and what we had to experience with the disgusting fridge and other issues.
The follow-up call was met with hostility with the front desk telling us to "do whatever you want" and being told "I will charge you and do what I need to do, you do what you need to do" despite my explanation and obvious frustration with the situation. We are absolutely appalled at Niagara Inn's treatment of paying customers who decided not to create a fuss with the room's state after paying a pricey one night fee. The room's quality (or lack thereof) did not come even close to price we paid. We refuse to pay for damages we did not cause, have video/picture proof for anyone who needs it (since I can’t post here) and will continue to report this to...
Read moreHorrible experience, rooms are so below any standards that you can't find in Canada or USA. We asked to change the room and both rooms that were offered to us were smelly, cigarette smell. The bed was totally uncomfortable, very small for a full size bed, there is no way that 2 people can sleep comfortably in that size bed. The fridge was totally dirty, very obvious that were not clean. The main door of the room has multiple gaps that you can see the street light and hear the noise of the other tenants staying outside and smoking. The windows are blocked by the AC which was tapped all rounded and with multiple air gaps. Totally unsafe to stay, considering that the all the rooms are on ground floor. I really felt that I was travelling in the most poorest and unsafe neighborhood. I understand that this is a motel but still to this day I have not yet come across an motel like that. We ended up leaving the room as we could not stay not even 30 min. The hotel tried to give us another room which was even worst. The hotel refused to reimburse us the payment even though the advertisement was super deceiving, and so be careful not to fall for it as has nothing to do with how the rooms are actually. In the end we filed complains with Canadian authorities and disputed the charges with our credit card which we ended up to be refunded.
In response to the Owner who replied to my comment on 03/07/2023: MY REVIEW IS NOT A MISTAKE I CAN ASSURE YOU. YOUR OWN PICTURES, POSTED IN GOOGLE, CONFIRMS THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY and you can also see the attached pictures I took and you can research my name. You are trying to be clever with your replies "its a mistake or the wrong property" but the truth is the conditions of your property are very poor below any standards in Canada. And the description and the pictures used for advertisement are VERY...
Read moreI don't want to be rude, I really don't, but this is the worst place I've been in when it comes to cleanliness. When I first saw the outside of the building, my immediate thought was "no" but it wasn't my choice to stay here, so I followed everyone in... ||||Very old building with very old equipment/utilities. All the outlets look burnt out (but do work), the air conditioners are ancient, the floor radiator is a fire hazard... the tv and remote don't work. The floor's are covered in dirt and dust and it's extremely obvious they haven't been vacuumed in God knows how long... The blankets on all 3 beds had holes in them, there were hairs all over the sheets. The bathroom smelled of urine, and there were pubic hairs on the back of the toilet and the floor. The room was also incredibly hot and the windows couldn't be opened because they were firmly taped shut. And there's no fans. So I got no sleep because I was too hot.||||There was also a dirty, old pin in my bedside table drawer. ||Aside from all of this, the lady at the desk was quite nice and left a note for us when she stepped out. To my understanding, we were the only tenants in the entire building. Also, the room is... "quaint" and comfortable. Just very unclean. ||The only thing I find very strange and not really a good thing, is that the lady at the desk, the ONLY staff in the building, left. Said it was her day off and that we, the customers, were responsible for locking the door and turning off the Open sign. That's just... a little odd... ||||Came for one night and were told we had to get out by 11am the next day and no later. Kicking us out that quickly for what we paid? Not...
