I have had several conversations with Lisanne, the manager, whom will likely reply. Arrived April25, departed 28th, 2025. Our anniversary was on the 26th so it was a big deal.15 years.
I have a provincially certified service dog trained with a school for well over a year. There was some discussion that she was a pet and I'm very thankful that the hotel eventually recognized my SD and our rights! ❤️ She has no different rights than a guide dog and I would never ever threaten a business with reports to the BC Guide and Service Dog act. What I will do is try to help anyone understand the laws around service dogs. Unfortunately so many pretend and ruin it for the rest of us. A place shouldn't deny a guide dog any more than you would a properly certified service dog after all. I even made a point of coming down on Saturday to show her and how she acts. Staff and customers were impressed.
The 4* review on the room is bc we were in 302. Ocean side. Wickedly nice room but..
Service review...
There's a super busy visually sign to not change the MODE of the room comfort settings. Yet the room was freezing. So I hit stop. No modes, just off. When we got back after the day away, I hit start. Nothing. It did nothing. Plus the heated floors in the bathroom didn't work either. They wouldn't turn on. We were told room attendant could fix it.... After an equally confused room attendant said they didn't know what we were taking about, we gave up. Room was sweltering. We're in our 50s. Got another call saying brother would be by to fix the room comfort settings. No show
Let's just take a moment too to say that if you need to post a super busy sign with not the right information on what could eff up the system because of wiring to the next room craziness. Perhaps, put a cage on the unit like offices do?
Being told to open windows, you should have, why did you, you can't,.... Since booking this resort has been something. Yeah thanks
Service gets a bad score. Reasons: the manager is SUPER condescending. She talked down to me several times, others actually heard her. She was very rude. Manager was fake kind a couple of times so I played along so we didn't lose the room.
Overall, Lots of stairs. Weirdass room comfort. Rude manager. We will likely never go back to Powell River so I guess none of this...
Read moreThe rooms are new looking inside. We liked the cabinet to keep our suitcases handy, but hidden away. ||We had a second floor room. These rooms have a level entry from the street. There is also a third floor that is up one level of stairs from the street or two levels up from the parking lot. There is no elevator. The staircase to the parking lot was wooden, which was a little concerning in case of fire, but overall we were very happy here. We requested a room with an ocean view and are glad we did. There was a balcony with a small table and two chairs out the back door. ||There were a coffee maker and kettle in the room as well as plenty of coffee, teas, cups, sugar, and even cream in the fridge. There was a small bar fridge. It did not have a freezer compartment, so we couldn't refreeze the ice pack from our cooler for our trip home. We had also hoped there would be a microwave because we had restaurant leftovers, but there wasn't, so we ended up eating them cold. There are other rooms with kitchenettes, but we didn't book one. ||Room service was provided daily, but did not include making the bed. The towels were replaced, bathroom refreshed, and garbage emptied daily. There is a heat pump unit that can be used to increase or decrease the temperature of the room. The lowest setting for it was 17*C. ||We didn't see any staff for our entire 4-night stay. Unfortunately we arrived after their closing time, but we had been emailed instructions for retrieving our room key from a lock box. I did go into the spa office (which is also the hotel office) the next day to show my face, but the receptionist feel that wasn't necessary. We checked out before opening time in order to catch an early ferry, so we didn't see anyone on checkout either. A receipt was emailed to us on the day we checked in.||All in all we were happier here than other places we have stayed in PR recently. We would...
