Genki Sushi & Korean fried chicken — Restaurant in Powell River

Excellent restaurant. I didn't even know this existed, it was a little hidden gem in Powell River. We found it during the blackberry festival and went back after to try it out. When we arrived they didn't have any tables available so the greeter took my phone number and called us immediately when a table was ready. Once we were seated the server took our drink order. Then returned promptly with our drinks and took our order. We didn't have to wait long before our food was delivered, prepared very nicely. We decided to try this place because the combination of fried chicken and sushi seems a little odd. We ordered a 1/2 order of the original fried chicken with a side order of their sweet and spicy sauce because I don't do spice and a couple of rolls. We checked out the Art Gallery down the street while we waited for our take-out to be ready. The fried chicken was really good, Hubby said the sauce was also very good, but I didn't try it after he said "yup, that's spicy". The rolls were ok, the one roll had a sauce that neither of us cared for, but the other roll (Crazy roll) was good. The tobiko and tuna nigiri were good. Best sushi EVER. Amazing customer service, I travelled from Texada to eat here and the wait time was 2 hours so I would have missed my boat home. The friendly lady accomodated me and made sure I got my food in time.

I have to edit my review. I went back about 7 months ago and the quality was sadly not the same. I couldn't bring myself to go back because sushi that's no fresh is a deal breaker. Customer service was great though..id even dragged my brother here raving about how great it was and now he thinks my judgement sucks.. I hope they up their quality and only serve fresh stuff because I miss how good...
