Holiday Inn Express is the best!!
We've stared staying in Holiday Inn Express locations during the pandemic, crossing BC, AB, SK, and MB and we've always been very happy.
Reward program: it's a good reward program and I wish I knew about it sooner...I'm staying anyways, may as well rack up some points while I'm at it. Points expire after 12 months of non-activity on your account, so not bad.
Parking: FREE and plentiful. If there's no parking, the staff always figure it out...
Breakfast: I love their pancakes!! They have a machine that with a press of a button, you've got two delicious pancakes!
There's always a variety of protein, fruits, cereal (hot and cold), juices, hot drinks, yogurts, breads, etc.
The seating area is always very nice and comfortable. Booths, tables and chairs, a peninsula with TV. A great place to enjoy a hearty breakfast!
Rooms: CLEAN, spacious and comfortable beds! They always have a lot of hard surfaces for you to put your luggage and things you need with easy access. This room had a King Bed and a sofa with pull out bed. There was ample floor space too, so if travelling with many people or little kids, you can put their things down with ease (stroller, pack n play, etc.)
Toiletries: these hotels have refillable DOVE shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. The best!! Easier on the environment I am sure as it cuts out small plastic bottle waste.
Air conditioning/heating: personal thermostat for your comfort. Although our specific room this time around had AC that sounded like paper rattling around every time it ran, it still kept the room at a comfortable temperature.
Other: TV is at a good height, lots of channels and big. They have hooks in the room...I wish all hotels had hooks for clothing, purses, etc.
Staff: the staff checking us in was very kind and polite, a young lady! The front desk staff in the morning upon checkout were neutral đ. Usually I find staff are pleasant but maybe the staff was having a rough morning or something. The breakfast attendant went around to some tables and told them they close breakfast at 9:30am (it was 6:30-9:30am today). I thought it was kind of her to provide that warning to some tables. She spoke loud enough so that even tables such as ours which she don't approach did get the message anyways.
Hot tub was being washed and refilled today. Pool was filled. Not sure if it was open or not. If this matters to you, call ahead.
Overall pleasant stays. We plan to be back when passing...
Read moreOur family stayed one night in a room with 2 king beds. The room was very clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, and we loved having a sink, microwave, and fridge. The microwave made a lot of horrible noise when operated, but seemed to work fine. The bathroom was a touch small for us but very clean. The shower could use a little more water pressure. The pool was surprisingly warm! We really appreciated this. It was also a good size to play in. Our 4.5 year old was able to tippy toe in the shallow end. The breakfast was decent. The choices consisted of oatmeal with a few choices of toppers like nuts and such, 3 choices of dispenser cereal, a variety of breads and bagels, muffins, and for hot breakfast there was scrambled eggs, bacon, and turkey sausage. There was also a really cool machine that made you fresh pancakes that we thought was pretty amazing. I found myself telling my husband numerous times how much I liked this hotel. The location was really nice, there were lots of conveniences nearby like grocery stores, restaurants, a shopping mall. The parking seemed ample, and there was dedicated parking for the hotel. We never struggled to park near the entrance. The staff was always nice and friendly, and the hotel was so clean even though some things were showing age. The included WiFi worked well. Oh, the dining area where you eat breakfast is also open 24 hours with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available all day long, which we thought was a nice little touch. Overall, this has been one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I'd recommend...
Read moreRoom was clean, and easy to control temperature. Bathroom small but functional. Regina water VERY hard. Beds were firm, and the edge was sharp with the inside wires, but once laying down, it was fine, but again, firm. bedding clean and good, pillows over stuffed. (many like that style. checkin/out was effortless. staff courtious. Swimming pool is too deep for very young, but fine for youth. Temperature in pool was adequate. the Pool was why we booked there to begin with, as Sunday evening it was very quiet. now, let's talk breakfast:
We chose this hotel for pool, and hot breakfast, as the breakfast can knock $30 a day off your bill compared to no breakfast. BUT THIS hotel's breakfast doesn't qualify as a HOT breakfast. I have been to lesser hotels, with FAR better complimentary breakfasts at much more reasonable prices. EAT ELSEWHERE.
I recommend this hotel for the good sleep I had, and convenient location, with the Caveat that I cannot recommend the complimentary breakfast.
I did not try the restaurant at all, don't know...
