My Aunt ordered from India House via Skip the dishes (on Monday Nov 28) & all dishes were requested to be EXTRA MILD. Only the 2 yogurt/ cream based dishes were mild. Everything else EXTREMELY SPICY!! We can handle some heat but this was unreal and frankly blinds the actual taste of the food itself.
Have eaten buffet many many times at India House & as well ordered off menu to eat in and always has been excellent. HOWEVER EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we've ordered from them via Skip the dishes, they don't follow our request for mild unless the recipe itself has a ton of yogurt / cream in it! No mention at all in there descriptions that they have a spice heat level!!?!
I ended up with the WORST FOOD POISONING / GASTRITIS from Monday Nov 28 night (about 2 hrs after eating the extremely spicy India House dishes) until Thursday Dec 1!
I kid you not, vomiting & nausea for 8hrs the night of Nov 28. Never in my life have I ever vomited numerous times, every hour, for 8hrs straight.
Never again will I or my family be ordering from them. We don't want to put ourselves at risk again.
More details/ background: -After eating 1 plate from the dishes we ordered, we gave India House a call to request them to compensate for ruining our order (either remake or offer some refund for them). At first the lady who answered phone said they would remake and all we have to do is bring the full containers back. As we are about to leave to take the food back, we receive a call back saying sorry the kitchen can't remake mild because they were already made mild. She said that all of the recipes have bases that start at a certain heat level. -Spoke to "Manager Hapi / Happy" and he told us no refund, no compensation except a discount next time we eat there. Very upset and disappointed that they would not take ownership over this ordeal. Terrible customer service!! -Strange thing is about 2 weeks before, we ate in and ordered one of the same dishes and asked repeatedly to ensure the biryani would be mild. And you know what? It came mild. I can't for the life of me understand why they have such issue when ordering the same meal on...
Read moreI’ve visited India House for their delicious buffet several times prior, but this last visit’s hospitality was sorely disappointing. I visited for the lunch buffet on Sunday at 3:00pm. Only after letting the waitstaff know that I would be enjoying the buffet was I informed that the buffet would be closing at 3:30pm so that they could change over to the dinner menu for the evening.
Nowhere in the restaurant hours nor online was this posted for patrons. Online it only states that the buffet is offered from 12pm-10:30pm. I would have liked to have stayed and enjoyed my meal, yet felt rushed and as if I were not welcomed. The waitstaff even returned a second time and urged me to take more food as it was going to end soon. If staff meant that the lunch buffet would be ended and the dinner one would start later and we were welcome to help ourselves to both at the dinner price, why not communicate this? I would like to give this place thr benefit of the doubt here.
I paid for my meal and brought up the issue to the host and upon asking politely to put up a sign to properly inform patrons of the daily buffet times was I told that I could stay and return back to the buffet. No further compensation was offered or provided.
Had I been informed that I would only have 30 minutes to enjoy my meal I would have chosen elsewhere and returned back to India House at a later time when I could enjoy my meal at my leisure. I won’t be returning and opting for an establishment who can clearly communicate their operational hours.
Hopefully someone in front of house operations will see this and offer some helpful coaching to their staff to avoid further miscommunications and post their buffet hours clearly in their public...
Read morePlaced an order on skip for 2 chana bhatura. Went to pick it up and on our way we felt like samosa too. So placed another order just for 4 samosa, skip said 20 mins which is okay. By the time got there skip said another 10 mins. I requested the person at front to see if somehow they could speed up since samosas are pre made. The guy at the front was so rude, He said ‘we have other stuff to do’ ina very insulting tone, I was amazed and felt so embarrassed.. the way he spoke to me in front of other people. I tried to tell him that I’m just asking to to try you don’t have to talk to me like this. He didn’t budge and went on to say don’t order with us. Like anyone would ever want to come back to this place where you are disrespected like this. No wonder there are other google reviews from customers for this kind of behaviour by this person. Why would you work in service industry or have a restaurant if he is going to be like this, maybe needs another profession. Another incident like this before where the guy was rude and too busy and to look for credit card that was lost in the restaurant. There is zero respect, especially if you’re of colour even when they are Indian restaurant. Please go to Da India curry house, Royal paan, Caraway grill or flavours of India or because honestly food at this place is not so great either as compared to these other restaurants. Really sad and unnecessary, all you have to do is speak nicely but I guess it’s too...
