Prairie Donair Albert St. Regina — Restaurant in Regina

I am travelling across country, moving back to the west with my severely autistic son, and I am on day 4 of a 5 day drive. My son is an incredibly picky eater. I had prepacked meals in a cooler that I've been microwaving each night for his dinner at each hotel. This hotel in Regina didn't have a microwave so I was getting nervous about what to feed him.

I saw the Donair shop across the street and thought possibly a chicken and rice bowl might do the trick. I went in and ordered a donair for myself and the rice bowl for him.

To make an already long story shorter, when we got to the till, the owner/employee ended up paying for my sons bowl.

I was in shock and disbelief at the kindness. We never ask for anything for free, and don't expect it. Everyone has their struggles. The human moment when someone like him looks my son then me in the eyes and just recognizes, it's hard to explain, just enough to make a gesture that touched my soul and made me tear up.

After almost 5 years of going here almost weekly for my donair fix I will no longer be a customer of Prairie Donair. Went this Tuesday for my usual Greek gyro and when I asked for no lamb like I always do, I was told no. I told the guy i don't like it, and if he didn't want to double the beef instead to just not give me the lamb at all and he refused, said he would only make the donair the way it is supposed to be made. I tried to explain this has never been an issue in the years I've been going here and he didn't care. I walked our and took my business elsewhere. Ordered our food, watched the guy in the back cooking take customers payments, touching the cash and the till, than go back and start touching peoples food again, same gloves! No thank you! Cancelled our order and walked out which is really unfortunate because the food is amazing. I’ll stick with the east one.
