I have stayed at this hotel three summers in a row now when visiting Regina. The location in Harbour Landing is perfect with its proximity to all kinds of shopping, restaurants, and other amenities, and it's probably one of the nicest (and safest) areas in Regina. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice and modern (a bit of wear and tear on the nightstands, cabinets, etc., but to be expected over time) and the beds and bedding are very comfortable and provide a good nights' sleep. As one other reviewer noted for his room, the room I most recently stayed in (a King, the size I always book) had an empty corner that normally has a chair/reading area (apparently this has something to do with renos that are underway) but I didn't really miss it. What I do value and appreciate is having a mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig machine at my disposal and definitely make good use of these. (I always bring my own supply of K-cups as the hotel stocks a light roast and they do not replenish the coffee/tea/sugar, etc daily, though you can ask for more at the front desk.). Though I'm not a big TV viewer, it's nice to have a good sized flat screen and I discovered a 'fireplace' channel (channel 1) that offers a lakeside camp fire scene that's really nice to have on when in the room relaxing at night. As far as room upkeep, they offer a room tidy every third day which was fine for me as I was traveling solo but something to take into consideration. As far as their planned renos go, I would suggest that unless they are going to invest in regular steam cleaning and stain removal of the carpets that they consider replacing them with easy-to-maintain vinyl plank as I did notice several stains in the hallways and in my room which is a tiny bit off-putting. Food-wise, the complimentary breakfast is always top-notch, offering lots of options, and they mix it up a bit from day to day. They kitchen staff are very friendly and always on top of things, quickly replenishing items. Special note: If you stay here regularly, make sure you join the Home Rewards program as you receive a free night's stay after 12 nights. However make sure you advise them upon check-in that you are a member or you won't receive credit as the check-in staff do not ask you if you are a member or mention anything about it, in my experience). I discovered this during my third and most recent visit and noted it in the feedback email I received and completed post-stay. Pleased to report that the manager, Bianca, quickly responded and and credited me for all my nights, for which I am very appreciative as I actually have enough points for a free night on my next stay :) P.S. If you have some time one evening and you time it just right, you can walk/drive a few blocks west to Campbell Street, on the edge of the city, and enjoy a stunning prairie sunset. . .a bonus for choosing this location. . one you don't have to pay for and...
Read moreMy kids perspective (11 yrs old): :it sucked. the pool was foggy/murky and the slide horribly rusty! you step on it you can feel the rust on your feet the rooms are a lot of money money and not that good if you ask me. the bathroom was full of hair (the shower) the sink was gross (stains) and I had seen no cleaners at all it was so gross I did not like it and don’t get the ballers rec pass it will most likely cancel and they will give you a old gaming thing that’s is like 30$ worth. My perspective.
Adult perspective: paid nearly $400 for 2 nights in a double queen room. Hair on the shampoo and conditioner bottles, broken lamps, and super noisy air conditioner. We were given a gaming system since the ballers Rec room passes I paid for weren’t available and they gave a vintage Nintendo gaming system that took nearly a half hour to set up due to the TV being mounted so close to the wall. In the elevators the posters of the gaming system were newer and wireless- not the case at all. They did give us Pizza Hut vouchers in attempt to remedy the issue and that was the one good thing I appreciated.
The pool is very small. Pictures online are not accurate! With 10 people it’s packed and hardly room to swim. And the RUST was terrible. It was so bad that my kids mentioned it and if a kid notices that, you know it’s bad. Rust was literally dripping from the columns and stairs to the slide. For a likely million + dollar hotel/corporation the fact they don’t paint and maintain the pool area regularly is disappointing. There were smudged hands and fingerprints on all windows and elevators. Not just a bit or a few prints - it was a lot. But I don’t want to attack the cleaners since they are likely fed up with the hotel politics and corporate cutting corners. I’m sure there is little incentive or motivation in a place that clearly is sloppy maintaining its presentation.
I will say the desk staff and other staff I ran into were great. They were truly wonderful people and very kind, willing to help how they could. I think the main problem is the upper corporate tier who clearly cut corners and expect the workers there to smooth over their cheapness and inconsistencies. I don’t blame the workers- I blame the hotel chain. Would you work your butt off for a company that clearly doesn’t care about their customers or workers? I think not.
I will not be going there again. I’m deciding to bnb from this point on. For what a person pays to stay there- it doesn’t deliver or...
Read moreStayed here recently with my daughter. Decided on this hotel as it has the attached spa. We got in on a Monday around 1:30 pm in -50 weather. We were told that in order to check in at that time we would have to pay a $25 early check in fee. Honestly I have never heard of this and we stay in a TON of hotels every year. I didn't exactly want to go back in the -50 weather for 2 hours after driving all morning. I also didn't want our stuff in the car to freeze, so when I asked the guy at the front desk about this charge he was very stern that yes, they will be charging me that fee. A) We weren't THAT early. B) It makes no sense to pay nearly 1/4 of the room charge for 2.5 hours. C) It was a MONDAY and the room was already ready to go. I can see if we had called on a Saturday and asked if we could check out at 8 am that day and they had to make arrangements to prepare our room early for us. But it was a Monday and just 2.5 hours earlier than their check in time, and the room was ready, sitting there vacant. Honestly I found this absolutely ridiculous. Nice little money grab.
This hotel was very average. The rooms were basic and not as clean as most rooms we've stayed in. Our toilet ran constantly. We used the pool and there were a ton of children in the pool with no parents, wearing their street clothing in the water and climbing and sitting on top of the slide, cannon balling into the hot tub. The water was quite murky and the pool area was not clean.
We forgot to grab bottled water, so we went to check the vending machine. We took the stairs and for some reason the carpet was SOAKING, like saturated with water and super smelly, with fans blowing on it. I'm not sure why but if they were being cleaned, you'd think it wouldn't smell bad. Their vending machine was charging $4.25 per bottle of water. Just another thing.
The next morning, we looked at the breakfast and it looked absolutely disgusting. I don't ever plan on staying here again, especially for over $150...
