Booked a mini holiday back in July before the kids went back to school; originally, I had booked one room through Expedia.ca for $110 a night. Ended up needing an additional room - so I called the hotel, rather than booking online. When I called, I spoke with a lady and explained I needed another room, and without a kitchen was fine - as we just needed one for snacks for the kids. She stated it would be $90 a night for the additional room.
Upon check-in I was told I was upgraded so both rooms would have a kitchenette. I explained it wasn't needed, she was persistent, so didn't think anything of it but thanked her (as I've never been told I was "upgraded" and charged for it).
When I reviewed the bill, I noticed I was charged $110 x4 - rather than $110 x2 + $90 x2. When I asked, she stated I had the kitchenette in both rooms, and I was already getting a special rate of $110 (they are regular priced $115) I explained I didn't request two kitchenettes, but rather she insisted and she stated "when I saw you, I knew you wouldn't like the other room. So I upgraded you to the kitchenette suite."
Terrible way to run a business, anyone who isn't driving a truck is likely to have this happen to them. So because of this, I am rating a 2/5.
Now, if I didn't feel like this place was a money grab, it would have gotten a 4/5, so here is my review on the actual facility; the rooms are tiny, they fit two double beds, and a TV with a decent size kitchen along the side - the fridge was full sized, which was nice. The bathroom was a good side, no fan, which was strange. I wouldn't use the shower - looked like it needed a good clean. There wasn't a fitted sheet on the bed, or a mattress protector. The pillows weren't protected either, just one pillow case. The location is amazing, literally across the street from the lake. Walking distance to restaurants, pubs and there was an ice cream shop on either side of the hotel. I wouldn't return, based on the issue with room rates, but for anyone who's quoted full price and need a place to stay for the night, this wouldn't be...
Read moreBeach Front Resort is the worst customer service I've ever had in my life from any establishment I've interacted with. Having to call multiple times to confirm that my room was actually booked, I did not receive one email or text to confirm. Due to unseen circumstances we had to cancel our rooms because we were no longer traveling out of town and no longer required the services. I was then literally screamed at and yelled that I would be getting taken to court If I canceled, that I will be sued if I leave a review, and My credit card will be charged and if I put a block on my card she will take me to court for that too. She continued this for approximately 3 minutes straight where I couldn't get a word in to explain why we had to cancel. I was told that we're very bad people for cancellation, when she was happy we were booking, she was very kind and helpful and promised to call me with confirmation. However, that never happened either. I've never been screamed at for having to cancel a hotel looking before. We called the Radisson this morning where other rooms were booked and had no problem cancelling and were treated very kindly. I suggest you stay at the Radisson, this resort doesn't even deserve one star for how they mistreat people, all 3 of us that cancelled were screamed at. Not yelled at...Screamed at, I will never be a client there and I will let every one of my friends know not to stay there as well as many of my friends that are living in Sylvan Lake. Also wanted to mention how unprofessional it is to ask people to e transfer their deposit and pay for rooms that way, I was told there's new managers that took over and that's why e transfer. We ignored the reviews to give it a chance, but, After being treated the way that I did, I will never stay here or ever recommend...
Read moreWish I didn’t even have to give it one star! Run as fast as you can from this place. I cannot emphasize this enough DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We recently stayed here for 3 days. Not only is it overpriced for what you get. The beds were disgusting and smelt so bad. The sheets on the bed weren’t even fitted sheets and kept falling off. The bathroom toilet made a sound every time you used it. The shower is so small it’s like a little claustrophobic box. They clearly never clean these rooms. The smell got so bad eventually couldn’t handle staying any longer. Brought it up to the front desk and they were extremely rude about it. We had paid them $500 for a week originally because our original plan was to stay there for a bit while we were waiting to close on our house. We only stayed 3 nights. They refused to give our money back, even at the cost they said a night they would at least owe us $245 minimum back. Their only response to us however was that they didn’t cater to people like us. Like what is that supposed to mean. Someone that wants a clean room for their family. My poor one daughter actually wound up sick because of this place. Not just that but you could hear people screaming at each other all the time. We were not the only ones leaving because of the rooms. There were multiple families leaving at the same time. I don’t understand how this place even stays in business. Should be shut down! I would rather sleep in my car at least I...
