Portal Austral — Hotel in Puerto Montt

I stayed here with 2 friends for 1 night before heading to Puerto Varas. The location is great - it's uphill from the port, and the area around can have some slightly sketchy parts, but for the most part, we felt very safe (I'm also from Brooklyn so I have different a comfort level than some). That said, you can easily take an inexpensive taxi wherever you need to go. ||||The location is a short 5-minute taxi, or about a 15 min walk, to the seafood market where we spent a rainy day going from one restaurant to the next eating and drinking pisco sours. I really don’t like this hotel ... the room don’t have toilet inside if you need take a shower or wc or another thing you need go another place and close your room ...has a community bathroom. or shared bathroom. My room and my bed I like it and the view nice . The breakfast horrible don’t like . And the people look you all the time ... don’t recommend...

A lovely home away from home. Joselina is a fantastic host, warm and helpful. The place is spotless, quiet and has great views. Its up some steep stairs, but still easy to get around Puerto Montt. You get a good breakfast included in the price, and proper coffee and tea is offered throughout the day. Good...
