It all depends on what you like and what you want to see. This sculpture makes reference to a song that talks about lovers sitting in front of the sea. This city is cold and rainy, outdoor atractions are obviously not the strong and this definitely makes a weird art expression if you encounter this in a walk. Different colors and rework due to the harsh weather but in my opinion this is now a symbol of the city. Sentados frente al mar es una escultura que representa a una pareja de enamorados que miran el paisaje marino de Puerto Montt. La obra fue creada por el artista local Robinson Barría, inspirado en la canción "Puerto Montt" del grupo uruguayo Los Iracundos. La escultura fue inaugurada el 14 de febrero de 2002, coincidiendo con el día de los enamorados y el aniversario de la ciudad.

La escultura está ubicada en la costanera de la ciudad, entre las calles Pedro Montt y Guillermo Gallardo. Tiene seis metros de altura y está elaborada con la técnica de ferrocemento, que consiste en un esqueleto de hierro y malla de alambre cubiertos de cemento, pigmentos y preservantes. La pareja está sentada sobre una estructura que simula un banco, con escalones que permiten a los visitantes subirse y tomarse fotos junto a ellos.

La obra ha generado diversas reacciones entre el público, desde la admiración hasta la burla, debido a su fisionomía y valor estético. Algunos la consideran una obra de arte original y expresiva, que refleja el amor y la identidad de Puerto Montt.
