Hotel Museo El Greco — Hotel in Puerto Varas

Well, the location is convenient to restaurants, shops, bus stops. Hotel is just up a little hill from the main Plaza de Armas and waterfront (Costanera) walkway on Lago Llanquihue. (With a view, location would be 5-star.) We had five days of luxury at Casa Molino and needed a convenient hotel for the night before departure to Puerto Montt. In all fairness, the stark contrast between the two probably colors these remarks, Aside from location, imo this seemed about a $45-50 value (we paid $73 through Expedia).||||PROS: location, pleasant staff, nice sheets, great towels, hot water, good tv and wifi, quiet elevator, pride of being conservation-aware, extended breakfast hours. ||||CONS:||||1. SECURITY. 3pm checkin, so we when we dropped off bags, that drop was just behind the reception desk for three hours (if there is a secure place, no one mentioned it). Room doors lock with just a single-turn bolt.||||2. HEATING - BIG DEAL: we were here a chilly evening and made four trips down the stairs to check on the heat and ask for the radiators to be activated. Each time, the front desk clerk said she'd adjust, but there was hardly any change, just a whisper of warmer air from the bedroom radiator. Two of those trips were before dinner and when we came back, the radiators were off again. If we'd read through the reviews here more carefully, we would have seen that others have had this same experience. Probably of no concern at certain times of the year.||||3. Noisy: Those 100-year old preserved boards amplify every step up and down stairs or hallway and thin walls convey conversations about n nearby rooms. Just pop in your earplugs. Street noise is minimal.||||3. The pleasant front-desk staff seem to be harried to the point that questions are answered in rapid-fire Spanish and they're back to their task at hand; we found it was easier and more helpful to ask questions of the waiter at Cassis Coffee or the couple selling hot peanuts...

Pros: great location - only 2 blocks to the town center, reasonable price, friendly and helpful desk staff, great restaurant. The bed was comfortable||||Cons: Relatively rustic. The room was smallish, but they did have two sturdy luggage stands and a desk. Nothing quite works - the doors to both the room and the bathroom stuck and needed to be forced. The toilet did not flush well, and the water leaked. The shower head flipped up whenever it was turned on. The room safe did not work at all.||||I don't mind rustic, but I don't like things that don't work. I would look for a different place next time, but this is not an unreasonable choice because of the grood location.||||Regarding the restaurant - we had the prix fixe dinner on New Year's eve - fantastic. the chef came out and told us about what we were eating and the food...

|De boutique não tem nada... o hotel tinha tudo para ser ótimo pois sua localização ê excelente, ótimo tamanho dos quartos entretanto a impressão que ficamos é que os responsáveis não tem a mínima preocupação com o bem estar dos seus hóspedes... tivemos surpresas desagradáveis todos os 5 dias em que lá estivemos: |1. cortinas menores que as janelas (black out nem pensar) como amanhece muito cedo éramos acordados diariamente com a claridade matinal;|2. Quartos com enormes janelas de vidro sem filtro (tínhamos que ficar o tempo todo com a cortina fechada para termos um pouco de privacidade);|3. Box do banheiro com fechamento parcial - o banheiro ficava molhado após cada banho; |4. Porta do box do banheiro sem puxador do lado de fora;|5. Aramado do banheiro onde ficavam as toalhas despencou quando fui pegar uma delas;|6. Lixeira do banheiro desmontou a tampa no dia que chegamos, arrumaram o quarto e foram incapazes de arrumar a lixeira ou de substitui-la;|7. Guarda roupa com porta empenada;|8. Porta do quarto rangendo (um pouco de óleo seria bem vindo);|9. Secador de cabelo quebrado. Avisei pela manhã e, após dois dias,ninguém tomou qualquer providência para consertar;|10. Quando chegamos não havia papel higiênico no banheiro;|11. Apesar de terem anotado a marca/placa do nosso carro nos acordaram de madrugada para perguntar de um carro que não era o nosso;|12. Café da manhã muito básico e sem qualquer variação: pão de forma, presunto, queijo, manteiga, 2 tipos de geléia, yogurt, cerejas frescas, 3 doces ( todos os dias eram os mesmos), ovos mexidos (nunca estavam lá), café, leite e água quente para o chá;|13. No último café da manhã não havia nada além de água quente e leite, tivemos que pedir na portaria para reporem... parece que ninguém do hotel havia percebido isto|14. Como a porta da entrada tem que ser aberta do lado de dentro, ficamos aguardando por 5 minutos a noite, no frio sua abertura. |15. Ninguém avisa que o estacionamento na rua é controlado, ou melhor tem que ser pago. |16. O estacionamento é bem pequeno e como sempre tem um ônibus estacionado as vagas ficam ainda mais restritas;|17. Não conseguimos entender o esquema dos funcionários do café da manhã, eles nunca se repetiram nos 5 dias em que lá estivemos;|18. Um funcionário disse que o restaurante do hotel ficava aberto até as 23:00 horas entretanto chegamos as 21:00 disseram que já estava...
