Cassis Cafe — Restaurant in Puerto Varas

I don't love to leave bad reviews, but in the two months I've been in Chile this is the worst food I've had.

I ordered the bowl with chia pudding, and when the dish arrived there was no chia or really any of the other ingredients listed on the menu. Just blended banana soup topped with strawberries. I made a comment to the waiter and he was very kind and gave me a free smoothie and some granola for my banana soup, and I left somewhat content.

The menu is so large and diverse I decided to give the restaurant a second chance. Perhaps I had just chosen a bad dish the first time. I ordered a pisco sour and a hamburger. The pisco sour was just pisco and sweet and sour mix that you can buy in the supermarket. No egg whites or froth. The burger was okay but the fries were under cooked and tasted like nearly-raw potatoes.

I'm leaving a few stars because the servers were very accommodating and deserve 5 stars. The food, however, was bad. The menu is quite large, it would probably serve them better to choose a few dishes that they can do well rather than poorly execute such a...

One star is being nice when it comes to service... got there one night a little before 11pm (on google it says it closes at midnight), And a waiter gave us a table and handed us menus. Waited for about 10 minutes until finally one of the many waiters that were chatting among them came up to us to tell us the kitchen had just closed, I asked why no one told us when we got there or at least when we got our menus and he didn’t even apologize. Decided to give it another try the next day at about 7pm ordered glasses of tap water and salads... water took a while and when I asked for another one and for bread a waiter (not ours) told us he’d ask about it, at least another five minutes went by asked another waiter and got the same answer that he’d ask, ask a third one guess what? Yes got the same answer so we left the place and as we’re walking out one waiter sees us and said absolutely nothing. The service here was awful! We went upstairs and true man waiting on our table took over 20 minutes to even say hi and take our drink order. When we did have questions about the menu our server was super rude and kept asking us to hurry because he had "mil questiones que hacer" (a thousand other things to do). I've never had such a rude server who could not care less about being serviceable.

The food was ok. We ordered a meat platter which was good but had way more potatoes and a little meat.

Our server dropped off the food and then was nowhere to be found. To really cement our thoughts about the place, when we went down to pay (we had to go to the cashier because our server didn't even stop by to give us the chance to ask for he check) our server reminds us to leave a tip! The nerve of the guy to be a terrible server, ignore us all night and then finally show up to ask for a tip! Puerto Varas is filled with amazing restaurants, I wouldn't bother...
