Great location in the heart of town on the lake and nice finishes in the common areas but this hotel has a long way to go to live up to its 5-star ambitions. Our lake front room had incredible views of the promenade, lake and volcano which is a huge reason for staying here. Check-in was quick and the staff friendly. The room itself was large but the bathroom was cramped, with one sink and a small bathtub. The water would not get hot enough. There is a fridge in the room and a kettle with tea and coffee. The beds were comfortable. The parking is free and underground below the hotel. Breakfast was only half decent with average coffee, and the only hot options being scrambled eggs and vienna sausages. We use gyms when we travel and this one is pretty terrible. There's not a treadmill and the rest of the equipment was substandard. The pool was closed for some reason. After some amazing meals at our other 4 and 5 star hotels during this trip to Chile we pressed our luck and decided to try the hotel restaurant for dinner which was a mistake. We ordered a main course salad which had rotten leaves and the other items were so bad we decided to go elsewhere. They did take some items off our bill. The restaraunt staff throughout our stay were far below average. Tables weren't cleared and items weren't restocked. Worst of all though was at one point we had an emergency and had to call the hotel from outside the premises and they would not answer the phone for 30 minutes. Three of us were trying to call because of the nature of the emergency. When the attendant finally answered he said that he saw calls coming in continually from the same numbers but he was new and alone at the front desk at 1:00 in the afternoon and was told not to answer outside calls. Later on I spoke with his superior(not the manager) and he seemed nonplussed at the decision to ignore all incoming calls, which was probably HIS instruction to the...
Read moreSufficient number of front desk reception staff, and they are all courteous. The concierge and security are also courteous and unobtrusive. Dining and restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. Fitness and spa staff are pleasant. Housekeeping staff are professional. The restaurant food and drink offering is abundant and high-quality. Tables and other visible surfaces are clean and tidy. The gym space is huge, even enormous, with a few items of equipment of not so high quality, however, the space is quite ample which allows plenty of area for stretching, jumping rope and shadow boxing. The pool is only a meter deep but heated and seems a safe space for children. The dry sauna is tidy and heats well. The massage service was okay, not the best but still pleasant and very reasonably priced. Parking was included in the room price and the area is safe. The hotel's location across the street from Lake Llanquihue is highly convenient, especially since the tourist info office is situated three minutes away on foot. The room I stayed in was clean, fragrant and comfortable and sound resistant even on the street side. The only problem with the room is the window which doesn't seal. This isn't due to age, but probably was caused by a past hotel guest. I forgot to notify hotel reception about this matter. I certainly would stay there at the Radisson Puerto Varas again. I recommend the hotel for a...
Read moreMy stay was replete with issues. The volume of my TV did not work. The electric outlets in my room did not work. When the housekeepers cleaned the room each day, they never left towels. So I had to call reception two days in a row to request them, the phone ringing off the hook because the reception staff don’t pick up if they are talking to a guest in front of them. Reception needs more staffing. Some of the employees ant reception were rude and argued with me about certain things. Unacceptable— need better customer service training. Only staff member who was remotely professional was Jose Alfredo who helped me change rooms. I would never...
