It is located a little way out of town (5 minutes walk), but if I had been a single female I wouldn't have liked the walk at night as the lighting wasn't good. When we were there it was quiet, no party hostal anywhere near it nor noisy neighbours or barking dogs which was good.||||There is noone at reception throughout the day you have to ring the bell and knock the family accommodation door to get anyone.||||The kitchen is basic (no tin opener) but the out side area is nice to chill out in and take refuge from the sun. ||||Breakfast is the usual for Chile, orange juice, 2 pieces of bread, ham, cheese, jam and tea or coffee. We had problems finding someone to ask for breakfast the first morning, but eventually someone came.||||The bathroom and bedroom were fine although the key didn't work properly. ||||It's expensive, but cheaper than a lot of other places in San Pedro and we would stay here again. ||||Directions we were given were hopeless, we got a bit lost so I hope these help . . . ||||From bus station||Come out of bus station and turn left past outdoor play areas||At T junction turn right and then the first left by a water tower||At the end of the street (shop on your right) turn right and keep walking on this road. It opens up to a car park area and there are a few market stalls there. Keep walking on the road past the cemetery (with the cemetery wall on your right) until you get to where the road splits with a football pitch marked out with car tyres. Cross the pitch and head to the last house in the row behind the green old car that looks as if it hasn't moved...
Read moreWhen we arrived at San Pedro's bus terminal we were picked up by a lady from Puripica Hostel who offered us to pay 7000 pesos per night for a double room with shared bathroom. No breakfast included. As she told us in the town center it would be much more expensive, we accepted her offer. Later we found out that this is the normal price in San Pedro...||She took us by car to the hostel which was located outside of town around 10 min walking to the center. 10 min is not that much, but it sucked a little to walk all the time. BUT as a positive point I have to say that it's a quiet and nice place to stay without many crazy young people hanging around making noises and occupying every space. I prefer to stay a bit outside and live calmly with few people. The hostel is small, has a cozy sofa corner, a nice and clean open kitchen with fridge, clean shared bathroom and hot shower.||True is that the worker lady there doesn't speak English, but this is the case with a lot of hostels in South America. But she is very friendly. Negative was that every time we paid our stays the lady didn't have money for change. Sometimes she were not there in the afternoon, but one can enter whenever he wants. It's a quiet and safe little place to flee from the noisy parties of San...
Read moreWe had booked 3 nights there and had already prepayed 10 percent of the amount. When we got there we were told that it was a mistake and we could only stay for 1 night but she would help us find a new place. We reserved 2 nights at the other place but when we got home that night the guy from the other hostel had called and said that there was a problem with the reservation. We ended up walking around the next day and found a place that was way cheaper and a lot more central than purripica hostal. The rooms are very small and everything is really old, the door didn't even open properly. At one point there was no toilet paper, soap or towel in the bathroom which makes it pretty complicated to use it.|Especially for that price you would expect more.|There was hardly someone to be found at the reception desk so you couldn't even tell your problems.|The breakfast was ok but 2 toasts don't seem to be enough for an adult who likes to eat a healthy meal.|The room was quite clean though and the bathroom as well.|Another nice thing was that we got lost finding our way to the hostal so the owner sent a taxi to pick us up and she paid for it. She was very friendly but maybe a bit overwhelmed.|There are definetely better places to stay in San Pedro...
