I stayed in the Jireh Hotel the first week of february with my husband,||||If we except the faulty plumbing (hot water comes and goes randomly, turning a shower into an opportunity to get scalded), the infrastructure of the hotel is OK. even though the quality to price ratio is not really good.||||BUT, and this is a big but, the service is really deplorable, although the personnel is nice and welcoming, they did not show any initiative whatsoever and demonstrated to be useless. We discovered the reason of their particular numbness: the manager/owner is clearly mentally unbalanced and keeps his personnel in a state of constant fear, hence the inability for them to take any decision on their own and help guests.||||A few examples: requests such as||- having our luggage placed in a locked room, while waiting for our room to be ready (and not simply left in an empty hall with easy uncontrolled access)||- requesting (with an half hour notice) that blocking cars could be moved so to be able to exit the parking with our own vehicule||- confirming the time for breakfast (within the "official" breakfast hours) to allow us to leave on time for a morning tour||||generated suspiscious responses and labelled us a "trouble-makers".||||My advice is to look for alternative accommodation, there are plenty of options in San Petro at a similar price range, that, without a doubt, will provide you with a...
Read moreSan Pedro de Atacama is expensive. Even considering the inherent difficult logistics in the middle of the desert, overcharging seems to be the rule rather than the exception. Differences between hotel and B&B are not clearly defined in San Pedro, except for the very high up expensive couple of choices. Jireh’ advantages are the location, the very relevant fact that rooms are cool during the day (thanks to the plants covering the place, there is no air conditioning), and the good wifi. The common area, including the pool, looks nicer than it feels; efforts to make it more comfortable are lacking. The rooms, cabinets, bed, shower and amenities are basic but in general adequate. A downside is that one can hear other rooms or those leaving at night/dawn to touristic attractions. Just about everything in the breakfast could be improved (especially the bread and the instant coffee), as one expects from a USD 100/night stay. Considering the alternatives within the range we were prepared to spend this was a good...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay here. Location was excellent as it's practically in the city center.
The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Cable TV was a plus. Bathroom was a bit small but it had everything we needed. They offer daily room service.
Breakfast was continental style with the option to add a freshly cooked egg. We enjoyed having this available.
The complex itself felt safe and was cozy. We liked there was a secure area to park our car. There's also a small dipping pool.
Staff was very nice and attentive.
if you can, pay in cash to avoid the tax. Our booking for 3 nights was $50 more than we anticipated since we...
