Parina Atacama Apart Hotel||First, don’t be misled; San Pedro Atacama is the driest place on earth and the dustiest! All buildings, including hotels, are made with wood and other natural products. I only point this out as even the fanciest hotels are still going to be made of wood and natural products from the desert. With this said, Parina Atacama might not be the fanciest hotel in San Pedro, but I’m not there would be much difference. So here are the pros and cons:||Pros:||• Location- about a 5-7-minute walk from the heart of down town San Pedro. Great local restaurant and bakery right around the corner from the hotel. Also, a mini-market and store to purchase beer and wine about a 2-minute walk.||• Breakfast- included with your room and consisted of meat, cheese, yogurt, fruit, bread, juice, and instant coffee or tea. Here’s the best part…delivered to your room! Also, we had an early morning excursion and early flight. Both times on request they packed a breakfast to go. Great service.||• Customer service- Christina was extremely helpful in many ways from arranging several tours, finding a bottle opener for my wine, or just helping with many questions.||||||• Room- We had room 8 which was on the second floor by itself. The best part of this was having a little patio/balcony area and table totally for ourselves. We ate breakfast out there, drank wine, and just basically hung out. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom was decent size. Refrigerator in room along with wine and water glasses.||||||Cons:||• Room- bed was comfortable but filled up most of the room. Not much space for two suitcases. Outside our door was the heating unit for the room below and it was quite noisy. Got used to it by the second night, but it was loud. Wish we could have a little more indoor space.||||All in all, for the price this hotel was a great bargain. I would stay here again for sure. Nothing fancy, but I’m not sure anywhere in...
Read moreThe apartments are In a small walled complex 15 minutes walk from the main tourist area.
There are groceries and cafes just around the corner. The main bus station is a 10-minute walk away.
The orange Adobe buildings are well maintained and clean. The front desk staff are helpful and speak good English.
Our ground floor apartment was at the back of the complex. It had a bedroom and separate lounge area with a sofa, table and two chairs, and a fridge. There were some glasses but no kettle or cups.
The bedroom had a queen bed with a firm mattress and a chest of drawers. There was only enough room for a bedside table on one side of the bed.
There is no wardrobe but there were hooks on one wall and some coathangers.
There were also a TV, key operated safe, reverse cycle air conditioner and a radiator.
The cosy bathroom had a good shower and liquid soap was provided.
The decor was simple and in keeping with the local style: plain pale walls, wooden ceiling and a stone feature wall.
During our stay there were no noise issues.
Breakfast can be provided. The one breakfast we had was mountains of toast, juice, yoghurt (we turned down cheese, ham and eggs) and coffee, served in the small kitchen with a two-seat breakfast bar.
Pros Easy walk to centre of town. Close to bus station. Friendly, English speaking staff. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Free WiFi.
Cons No tea...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights & were really happy with everything from the room, breakfast & helpful receptionist. The rooms aren't luxurious or huge but there was a safe, fridge & air con, plus they clean the rooms everyday which is handy after sandy hikes. Our room was on the ground floor but felt safe. The pool is compact but there's a nice lounge area near reception where WiFi is strongest (WiFi in the room was hit & miss but if you tell the receptionist, she'd reset the router when required).||We had breakfast in our room once which was a lovely tray with fruit, toast, jam / peanut butter, ham & cheese, plus tea / coffee. The other 2 days, we had breakfast to go which was a ham & cheese sandwich, juice box & cereal bar.||It's about a 12 minute walk from the central 'Caracoles' street but we enjoyed being away from the hustle &...
