Roots Cafe Pizza — Restaurant in San Pedro de Atacama

I ate at this restaurant three times while I was in San Pedro, it was that good! I have a gluten allergy and this was one of the few places with gluten free options and it was also very reasonably priced for the quality of the food.

I tried the chicken/arugula/spinach sandwich and the one with roasted vegetables. Their gluten free version replaces the bread for arepas and they are delicious! I recommend both sandwiches and any other one that calls your attention as they have wonderful flavor combinations.

I should clarify that I have a gluten allergy, not celiacs, so I did not ask them about their cross contamination practices in the kitchen, although you could easily do so as the kitchen is open and you can see the cooks cooking. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful as well. I can't recommend this...

Visited this place twice during our trip. Cafe has a nice selection. Food here is really good - we tried quinoa sandwhich, mushroom and veg croquettes, shrimp dish in garlic which came with bread. Complementary tortilla chips with hummus was given. Hummus tasted so good. They have other vegetarian options also on menu. Everything we tried was fresh tasting and good. In drinks had the bloody marry and lemonade with mint and ginger. Lemonade was too sour and we couldn't drink it. They have water jug with oranges and mint in it in a jug from which you can pour in the cups kept near it. They have an interesting, well designed menu and a wide range of food. We ordered a hamburger and a chicken sandwich. The burger is a bit salty (I think it is because of the sautéed cucumber), and the chicken sandwich is totally cold. I am a bit wondering why it took around 30 minutes while it is still cold. Or put it in another way, why the cold dish would take half an hour. However, the drinks are good. I had a mojito and they let me choose between mango and strawberry flavour. It was amazing.
