鸿星海鲜酒家 — Restaurant in Guangzhou City

I had very good memory of this restaurant when I was there about 15 years back, the food then was absolutely fantastic, fresh and very favourable. I was shocked to see that the restaurant name was changed, no more 鸿星海鲜酒家、 but 东江海鲜酒家. The service was really bad, they will try to push you to buy the very expensive seafood and if u don’t, their facial expressions changed immediately. As we only want to have a light dinner, we ordered 4 dishes which also include a lobster, scallop and bamboo clam. The Roasted pork is the only dish that’s ok, the rest were “better give it a miss”. The lobster meat was hard, scallop were not fresh, most likely frozen and clam that’s like rubber. The first 2 dishes were served fast, but we had to chased after the other 2 remaining ones which come 20mins later. I did complained to the captain but was brushed off by him as if my feedback were not important.

We had a very unpleasant experience with sub par food. All of us were looking forward to the dinner as I was telling them how good it was and were highly recommended by my friend who used to visit them as well.

The change of ownership seriously tarnish the reputation of a once renowned place that earned their name with very good food and services. What used to be bustling and crowded only saw less than 30% occupied on a public holiday.

It’s a sad story only to be put away as memory of its glorious days. Don’t waste your time and money here. There are better ones...

Permanently Closed! I visited on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, and sadly, the place was permanently closed.
