Howard Johnson Riverview Hotel Guangzhou — Hotel in Guangzhou City

Loved the view & the decor of the room. I paid premium for a King River view room and i loved the room. But why only 3 stars - the aircon & the service was a letdown. The room was very hot due to the sun coming in from the large windows during the day and the room air conditioning was set centrally with my room temperature stating 27 - 28 degrees celsius. It was a bit too warm for my comfort and i called the front desk twice & no one answered. Got a housekeeper to take a look to which she said that she will call the engineers to settle before we come back to our room. Half a day later, my room temperature was still at 28 and not settled. I had to inform the front desk personally before another housekeeper was sent up to my room. She offered a fan and managed to get the technician to come by. BUT..to keep things short.. my room temp at 5pm that day was still 27 degrees with the fan turned on. Apart from this, breakfast was ok. Service staff...

The Howard Johnson Riverview Hotel in Guangzhou has a nice location, by the Zhujiang River. We arrived by the metro from Guangzhou Airport, and it was like a five minute walk from Haizhu Square. We got a nice room on the 14th floor, with a view of the river. ||The room was very nice. By the window, there was a bench, with cushions, so you can sit and enjoy the view. In the distance, one can also see the Canton Tower. ||The bathroom was practical, and with a nice shower, with a handheld showerhead plus a "rainforest shower". ||Breakfast gave us a lot to choose from, and they also offer a wide selection of dim sum, as is typical food for Guangzhou. ||The beds were very comfortable, and you have two pillows to choose from. ||The hotel is situated just opposite from a quay, from where there are several river cruises. ||Also, there is just a short walk to Beijing Road metro station, where you can take the hop on/hop off...
