7 days quarantine stay... Honestly, I refused to do the whole quarantine thing in HK for 2+ years now, but I had to and it was a last minute booking (day before) and I did some research and Kerry Hotel was very well rated, and must say despite the circumstances of not wanting to do 7 days quarantine, my stay at Kerry Hotel made it tolerable (which in any other circumstances would've been excellent)!
I landed in HK very late, and only arrived at Kerry Hotel at 130am... and check in process was quick, I booked the base city view room and was given a complimentary upgrade with Shangri-La membership (Jade) which was a pleasant surprise for quarantine package and they even served supper at 130am in the morning which was honestly amazing service.
Must say the room was BIG!! I was surprised it's so big for Hong Kong standard. It was very spacious, the bathroom was very nice, massive bathtub, great showers (strong pressure), instant hot water from the sink.
The room amenities were also great, full mini bar (including beers), tea, coffee, snacks.. (coffee and tea refillable at anytime), they provided cleaning products for dishes, laundry, and sanitise spray. Plenty of storage for clothes, suitcase and more. Plenty of power points, wireless phone charging, decent size TV plenty of channels including alot of sports channels which many hotels lack. They also had a microwave in the room, which came in handy for when you decide to sleep in or take a nap in the afternoon and missed a meal. They also offered complimentary snacked, (can of kerry chocolate, cup noodles, and cookies)
The bed was very good, the panoramic sea views were also amazing. It actually made the quarantine stay bearable, I'd listen to music and stare out the window for hours, and also witnessed a beautiful wedding.
Food was probably one of the things I was most worried about in Quarantine hotel... as I've heard nightmare stories where food was worse than airplane food, and people had to order takeout regularly at other hotels. To my surprise, food was very good, 3 course meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was actually surprisingly good, maybe it was because my expectations were low... but Kerry offered a wide range of food, cuisines (asian and western)... i had cha sui rice one day, pasta with seafood, truffle barramundi, green chicken curry the next, a roast beef (cooked to medium rare), chicken parmigiana etc. Fruit bowl every morning, whole fruit every lunch, always a nice dessert for dinner. OK OK... it's high praise, honestly it's not quite high end restaurant quality, but it's very good for quarantine packaged food and I never thought i needed to order takeaways and they fed me very well and never felt hungry.
As for service... ok it's a quarantine hotel... I didn't enjoy the full service of a proper 5 star hotel... but all things considered, the room was very well equipped... and you can call concierge or message the whatsapp number which I did and they responded within a few minutes and delivered everything I asked for. I asked for extra bottles of water, extra coffee pods, extra tea, extra bathroom amenities (bath sea salt), sewing kit, they delivered within 10-15 minutes.
So overall, I had no complaints whatsoever, having stayed at many other hotels in Hong Kong, I would say it is one of the best Hotels in Hong Kong. I would definitely stay at Kerry Hotel again for quarantine or post covid...
Read moreIt's hard to know where to start with this exceptional hotel, where phenomenal experience, service and friendliness all come together.||Let's start with this. The Hotel Kerry is a fantastic place to stay, a little off the well worn tourist trail in Hong Kong. But it's close enough to get to everything you need, with one of the best views of Hong Kong from the hotel to reward you at the end of your tourist day.||It's in the Whampoa district on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong, within a 5-minute walk of the Whampoa MTR rail station.||The amenities are fantastic. We stayed in a Club Seaview Room on the 16th floor. The room was a great size, with unbelievable views of the Hong Kong harbour and the light show that takes over the city buildings every night at 8pm. No need to go to Tsim Sha Tsui and battle the crowds - watch from your room. Bed and pillow selection was comfortable, bathroom, bath and shower excellent, heaps of hanging space and storage, a separate desk, seating to watch the world go by, and you never felt crowded.||A highlight was the Club access on the 8th floor - well worth paying a bit extra to get. It was open for a light breakfast, afternoon tea, and some canapes and drinks from 5.30-7.30pm. The staff were the best part. We had a lot to do with Florence, Amelie and Annie who were so helpful and kind, as well as Ines and Chris and the rest of the Club staff who were outstanding.||We were visiting for my birthday. As an example of how staff went the extra mile, there was birthday cake in my room on the actual birthday day, and many members of the housekeeping staff wished me Happy Birthday every time I set foot outside my room.||If you are a gym junkie, Hotel Kerry has probably the best hotel gym I've seen in Asia. You get views across the harbour as you work out - if that doesn't inspire you, nothing will. There are 30+ machines of all kinds, two stretching areas with yoga mats, and an abundance of free weights.||There are also quality bars and restaurants within the hotel complex. A quasi-hawker centre called Dockyard offers stall meals (Indian, Chinese, burgers etc) and beers brought to your table ordered by app. It even has live music some nights. The Kerry's prestige restaurant Hung Tong has terrific Cantonese cuisine, and the 7th floor bar Red Sugar offers views of the harbour and outdoor drinks and snacks, as well as a sharp looking indoor section if the weather is against you.||Wander 100m downstairs from the hotel and there's a Starbucks open early til late. A short walk away is the Hung Hom Ferry Pier offering easy access to a regular ferry over to Central (the Hong Kong side of the harbour) which takes about 15 minutes.||My stay at the Hotel Kerry will long remain in the memory. Great hotel, great location and experience, and the most wonderful of staff. Cannot wait to return - it will be my go-to in Hong Kong...

I stayed at the Kerry Hotel in February while visiting Hong Kong with my partner, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We stayed on one of the higher floors (I believe the 16th), and our room was absolutely beautiful, spacious, clean, and with a wonderful view. The entire vibe of the hotel is luxurious yet calming, perfect for a comfortable and relaxing escape.
When we first arrived in the room, I noticed a cute little toy and called reception thinking that a child might have accidentally left it behind. The staff were so warm about it — they assured me they’d contact the previous guest to return it, and to top it off, they even sent up some complimentary chocolates. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made me feel immediately taken care of.
The gym is modern, clean, and well-equipped, one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel. I also visited the spa, and it was such a treat. I originally booked a one-hour massage but got a promotion to extend it to 90 minutes, which was worth every second. The service was impeccable, and I felt so pampered.
The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. One experience that really stood out was when I needed boob tape, and despite the language barrier, one of the lovely staff members went out of her way to help me find it in nearby shops. That kind of thoughtfulness really stays with you.
We usually had both breakfast and dinner at the Red Sugar restaurant, and it never disappointed. The Eggs Benedict and poached eggs were some of the best I’ve had — compliments to the chef! The breakfast spread was generous and fresh, and the assortment of cakes, bites, and snacks always added a lovely touch. One night, we had a cheesecake that I still can’t stop thinking about — genuinely one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I would love that recipe!
If there’s one slight downside, it’s that the location is a bit more relaxed and tucked away from the more central and lively parts of Hong Kong. But that actually worked in our favor, since we wanted a more chilled, luxe experience. There’s a shopping mall nearby called The Whampoa, which was great for convenience.
All in all, Kerry Hotel exceeded expectations. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, a romantic stay, or just a luxurious pause from the busy city, this place is worth every penny. I can’t wait...
