Whilst staying at the Kerry Hotel we decided to try out the Hung Tong Chinese restaurant. Given how good the Kerry Hotel had been we were expecting a good experience.

Although seated next to the window the view was partially blocked with a wooden screen.

We ordered shredded schezuan chicken for the appetiser and the sauntered wagu beef and sweet & sour prok for mains as well as a bottle of still water.

The waiter brought the water and poured it and it was sparkling. No big deal , they changed the glass and brought out a bottle of still with fresh glasses.

45 mins passed and our food arrived, the mains dishes that is. I enquired about the chicken appetiser, the waiter seemed confused. A few minutes later one of the supervisors came out and apologised saying the appetiser had been delayed and said it will be out soon. I took this as, we forgot your appetiser order.

In review of the food, the schezuan chicken was ok, notice I didnt say fantastic. The wagyu beef was average at best, but I will say the sweet and sour pork was a stand out and delicious.

In the end the supervisor removed the chicken appetiser from out bill which was a nice gesture.

The service in general was what average to ok, refilling water on the odd occasion. The restaurant was not busy by any means. When we had finished our meals we waited to see if there was any dessert menu , but this never occurred so we got up to pay the bill.

In summary, would I recommend, no i wouldn't. Perhaps they were having a bad day, but that is no excuse given the prices they are charging...

Good food but need more staff

we booked a table for dinner in advance and was put in the seats right by the entrance. had a nice view so we said ok. But it turns out the staff were very busy and being so far away meant the service was very average. the staff were nice but just not there when we needed them.

we ordered 2 starters. the tofu was very good. and 3 main dishes. 2 of the main dishes arrived together but the 3rd (the vegetables dish) had not arrived despite us almost finishing the others... we had to wait for when we could locate some staff and they chased it up for us. not the level of service you would expect to be honest and ruined the dinner a little bit.

nice setting and environment, good quality food but service let it down. free parking if spending over a...

We came without any expectation as part of a trip to Whampoa Garden but left totally bowled over by the quality of the food. It is tugged on the 7th floor of Kerry Hotel with a rather unassuming entrance, with well spaced tables, comfortable seating and a nice view of the harbour. It seems to share the same name with the adjacent Red Sugar bar. We had six dimsum dishes, all very tasty and imaginatively presented. We were told the red crispy prawn "chong fan" in the picture used natural coloured red rice without artificial colouring. The cute little pears were tasty savoury Chiuchow dumplings, and the walnut looking dessert was like little Christmas puddings with walnuts inside. Service was very friendly and attentive. Highly...
