The front desk staff is inefficient with slow check-in, and slow response when calling to request room cleaning At 25sq.ft, the room size is smaller than expected. The TV is too small, only about 20 odd inches. The hair dryer is a old design and has to be pressed all the time when using and the wind speed is weak. In addition, only Western-style black tea bags are provided, no Chinese tea or green tea bags. The toilet flush button is narrowly placed between the glass shelf and the toilet lid, which is very inconvenient to press. The hot and cold water controls are old design in the shower room and have to be tunned separately, making it difficult to control the water temperature. The overall service is average, without any surprises, not even comparable to domestic three or four-star hotels in the Mainland China. Yet, the location of the hotel is a credit with many eateries and shops nearby. The outdoor swimming poor is fine with good water quality and view!

We rented a serviced apartment there and from the last time we stayed 5 years ago, it has changed. Their serviced levels have dropped and they seem to want to charge for everything. Cleaning supplies, such as toilet bowl brush is not provided, despite me asking for one. It was very unsanitary, since it was an old style toilet that did not flush well. It was extremely hard to find plugs to electrical plugs. They would not refill the shampoo and body wash. We stayed 41 days. They wanted to charge for luggage racks. On the plus side, the rooms were big and our view of Victoria harbour was terrific and we watched the China's National Holiday fireworks from our living room. Very convenient to have 2 metro lines across the street and a mall attached to it. Sadly they have forgotten what industry they are in.

The hotel is well located, directly connected to a shopping mall, and less than 5 minutes walking from the Hung Hom MTR station. The main hall of the hotel is quite big and well presented. I also found the hotel corridors nicely decorated. Perhaps the best part of the hotel was the swimming pool. It was lovely to stay there! However, the room where I stayed was not fully satisfactory. You can clearly tell that the hotel is starting to age a bit. The TV was small and old. The appliances in the room, like the telephone or the air con control, were like 30 years old. Because the TV was so small, one of the walls of the room felt too empty. And the air con unit provided a smell of dampness. I have felt this smell in other hotel rooms. But this one was a bit too strong.

Our stay at Harbour Metropolis, Hong Kong, was deeply disappointing and not in line with what one would expect from a hotel claiming a 4-star rating.

Room Condition: The rooms were very small, not properly cleaned, and carpets were dusty. Furniture appeared old and poorly maintained, far from a comfortable or premium experience.

Unprofessional Staff: The reception and breakfast staff were consistently rude and unhelpful. There was a complete lack of professionalism, which made the overall atmosphere unwelcoming and stressful.

Water Supply Mismanagement: One of the biggest red flags was that drinking water was not provided. Instead, guests were forced to purchase bottled water at more than three times the normal price, under the guise of “green policies.” However, the hotel still sold plastic bottles—clearly a contradiction and, in our opinion, a deliberate attempt to profit off guests. (We’ve attached the price chart for reference.)

Breakfast Treatment: Breakfast hours were until 10:30 AM, but by 10:15, a security guard began warning guests to finish quickly. At exactly 10:30 AM, staff began clearing tables—even if guests were still eating. This rigid and ungracious behavior is unacceptable in any standard of hospitality.

Checkout and Luggage Handling: Even checkout was poorly managed. We were heading to Macau and had requested to leave our luggage in their storage. Despite having 5 rooms and 9 bags, they tried to enforce a rule of 2 bags per room and initially refused to assist us properly. After prolonged arguments, someone finally agreed and apologized, citing excuses like “800 rooms, it's difficult to manage”—which only added to our frustration. The luggage staff was equally rude and dismissive.

Conclusion: This hotel does not meet basic standards of hospitality, cleanliness, or customer service. It seriously affected our holiday experience. We do not recommend staying here and suggest future travelers consider alternative accommodations for a smoother and more...
