Worst hotel stay ever, hands down. So bad that even a week later, I feel compelled to write a review to vent. I booked through Ctrip, got a clear confirmation from the hotel, but when I arrived at the front desk at April 4th around 8pm to check in, it was a disaster. The young guy at the counter had the worst attitude imaginable. He claimed they never received my booking and told us to contact Ctrip’s customer service ourselves, stressing, “Don’t call the hotel, call Ctrip, and it has to be live customer service.” I’ve never experienced anything like this in all my hotel stays. I absolutely hate dealing with customer service hotlines—it’s the most infuriating thing. After struggling forever to find the right number on Ctrip, I finally called, only to have the same clueless guy at the front desk pick up! Then, in front of everyone waiting in line, he starts yelling, “Sir, I told you, call Ctrip, not the hotel!” The entire lobby heard him humiliate me for supposedly calling the wrong number. The issue was clearly the hotel’s failure to sync with Ctrip, so why dump the stress on the guest? What kind of logic is that? If you know so much about who to call, why didn’t you make the call? After jumping through hoops, I finally got through to Ctrip’s customer service. They resolved it quickly, apologized profusely for the inconvenience, and even gave me a 52 RMB cash refund as compensation. Meanwhile, the guy at the front desk just stood there with a smug, indifferent attitude, acting like the booking mix-up was somehow my fault. To top it off, it wasn’t just me—everyone in the lobby was having issues, and the whole place was filled with complaints. Beyond this, the hotel itself was a dump, like something out of a rundown village. There’s another Holiday Inn less than 50 meters away charging the same 900 RMB per night, and their environment is leagues better. I’ve stayed at Holiday Inns plenty of times, but thought I’d try this one for a change. Big mistake—what an absolute trash hotel. The room? It reeked of mold. There was a hair on the sheets—God knows where it came from. The curtains? Forget opening them unless you want a staring contest with people in the building across the street. The fact that all these issues could coexist in one hotel is honestly impressive in the worst way possible. Do yourself a favor and steer clear...

Read moreAccording to Macao's official regulations, mainland cities in medium-risk areas of COVID cannot enter Macao within 10 days. I informed Metropark Hotel Macau to cancel the order 5 days in advance and provided evidence that I could not enter Macao due to COVID FACTORS, but I was still deducted more than half of the room fee. The other two hotels I booked, however, were exempt from cancellation, even they were non-cancelable order.
Although a scheduled order is of the non-cancelable type, cancellation occurs involuntarily. According to the general provisions of the Civil Law, the parties shall be exempted from the liability for breach of contract in the event of irresistible factors; What's more, the hotel industry itself is an industry that pays attention to humanized service and excellent service. Therefore, no matter for legal or humanitarian reasons, Metropark Hotel should not charge customers liquidated damages.
Actually, penalty is not the only solution to this matter, the hotel can choose to reserve the next check-in places for customers instead of return the room fees. Why choose a solution that makes the customer the most uncomfortable?
I will blacklist this hotel for my next Macao trip. Definitely, not...
