This two star Michelin restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the StarWorld Hotel. The setting is very luxurious and classy and the service is impeccable. The prices aren’t that high considering the standing of the place and the decor. We visited on a tuesday at lunch without a reservation and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was empty at first, but filled up completly throughout the lunch hour.
We shared a few plates : braised pork belly Mao style (I didn’t enjoy this dish, something about the after-taste was wrong for me, but my boyfriend enjoyed it), Lanzhou beef noodle soup (flavorful broth and tender beef served with excellent hand-pulled noodles which you can see the chef pulling in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant), old beijing pan fried dumpling (crispy and fresh pan fried dumplings with pork filling) and pan fried pork buns (soft bao style pork bun with pan friend edges) (601 HKD for two, with two Tsing Tao beers, including 10% service charge and tip).
We had a great lunch and a very good experience, but I wasn’t as impressed by this restaurant’s food as I was by many of the one star Michelin restaurant we’ve tried in Hong Kong. We tried the cucumber and black fungus which was perfectly balanced without being overpowering. Upon the suggestion of the person managing our table, we went for the slow cooked beef. It was nothing short of a revelation. Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and well balanced. I don't think anything can be an improvement over this. The dan dan mian was delicious and we were told the cook is from Sichuan, which is evident. For dessert, we ordered the coconut and osmanthus jelly which was a perfect finish to a perfect meal.
This was my first experience at a Michelin starred restaurant and it's a meal I'm going to remember for a...

The boneless beef rib was my favorite dish. The pork dumplings, spicy razor clams, shark fin soup, and pigeon were all fantastic as well. Service was perfect and extremely accommodating. Everything was handled in English and went perfect.
This place has had two Michelin stars for each of the past eight years, I think. The accolades are well-deserved, and still this place did not seem one bit stuffy (and very reasonably-priced). As a New York food snob, this may have been my Meal...
