We booked a stay at this hotel from Dec 19th to Dec 31st. So far I have nothing good to say about this hotel. Horrible service and absolutely the worst customer service I've ever had in my life. While I am staying here, we had to go down at leaat 3 times to get a new key card because they never work for us to enter our room, our electricity went out twice. TWICE. The room was pitch dark. We had to get the technician to come repair it. When i talked to the front desk, their excuse is that the hotel is old. When i told them about how the customers way better in USA, he rudely said "well, this china, not America." Everytime we go down to the front desk for any issue at night around 11pm there is no one at the front desk you have to scream for someone to come out from the back, and this front desk worker had the audacity to come out in his tank top pajamas half awake land ask "what?". The workers are beyond rude and do not seem to care about their job. Before I forget the housekeeping service is horrible. They don't even vacuum the carpet in our room, they barely make the beds neatly. Honestly this was a horrible experience and I definitely will never return back to this hotel. It's nothing more than a tourist trap...
Read moreAs a first time Shanghai visitors I'm pleased we stayed at this hotel. It is very conveniently located, four blocks away from Nanjing Road, and a short stroll to the Bund or to People's Square. ||||Our room was nice, clean, and well equipped with windows that opened to a nice view. As other reviewers have pointed out, we also experienced some discomfort with the room being too hot, but we called the front desk and they sent someone to fix it within minutes. Breakfast had lots of Chinese & Western choices. We found the staff friendly and eager to help. There was always someone there that spoke English.||||The area is interesting and varied. There are lots of places to eat around like The Paris Baguette Café almost across the hotel. If you venture away from the glitzy shops of Nanjing Road, you will find yourself in the world apart of the small side streets: there is one full wonderful artists supplies shops which I found fascinating.||||I ate in the almost empty Flying Elephant Russian Restaurant in the hotel and the food was just ok. Nothing to rave about, but the staff was simply wonderful. ||Yes, I would stay...
Read moreThis hotel was chosen by our travel company, China Highlights. It was an excellent location, central to what we wanted to do, as we like to walk about in cities. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed being close to Nanjing Road, Shanghai Museum and the Bund.||||The check-in was efficient and handled in English. Our room, on the 15th floor, faced east towards the Shanghai Museum. The room was large, clean and quiet. The bathroom was a good size having both a shower and bathtub. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The room safe easily held our valuables and could hold a computer. Lots of storage to hang clothes and store in drawers, as we were there 4 nights. As per other review, there seemed to be no choice for temperature, although the room windows did open for fresh air.||||Breakfasts were included. They have a good selection of both western and Chinese dishes to choose from. We usually had an omelette prepared fresh and lots of interesting Chinese dishes. Lots of choice.||||We would...
