I’ll start with the positives - it won’t take long. The hotel is brand new, immaculately clean, and the view of the Bund is stunning.||That said, nearly everything else falls remarkably short. The room layout is, let’s say, creative — entering through the bathroom to get to the bedroom is certainly unconventional. And having the bathtub positioned next to the couch is a bold design choice that I’m still trying to make sense of. Bathroom doors are nowhere to be found, so kiss any privacy goodbye. ||The rest of the hotel follows a similarly puzzling logic. You’ll become quite familiar with the elevators, as getting from point A to point B often requires switching lifts multiple times and waiting around longer than you’d expect from a so-called luxury property.||The hotel restaurants are disappointing as the food is bland and the atmosphere is unwelcoming and resembles a corporate lobby. Breakfast lacks variety. ||The staff is numerous but completely useless. Aside from the fact that no one, nowhere speaks even an ounce of English and even simple requests — restaurant bookings, tour recommendations, help with luggage — seem to present an unbeatable challenge.||In summary, while the view is undeniably beautiful, there are many hotels in Shanghai that offer the same view and deliver a genuine five-star experience. This one,...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Regent Shanghai on the Bund, and it was an exceptional experience. Tucked away on a quiet street, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the Huangpu River and iconic city landmarks, including a direct view of the Pearl Tower. Its location is ideal, with walking access to Nanjing Road and the Peninsula, where we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea.||The standout feature of my stay was the outstanding concierge service provided by Jenny and Marco. Their professionalism and dedication were unparalleled—they expertly handled everything from securing last-minute dinner reservations to guiding us through local essentials like the Alipay app and Walt Disney process. They even coordinated a city tour at the last minute and ensured our visit to NYU Shanghai went smoothly.||The Harmonia restaurant served an excellent breakfast, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us after a flight delay caused us to miss our reservation. Every interaction at the Regent Shanghai was marked by elegance, professionalism, and warmth. This hotel is truly a gem, combining luxury, convenience, and...
Read morePlease note google maps is at the time of writing displaying the wrong location there are two Regents in Shanghai one in Pudong and this one which is on North Bund at Huangpu road (formerly the seagull on bund)
Regent Shanghai is a small but gorgeously renovated hotel. Formerly the seagull hotel, the location is in prime position on North Bund. The food menu was light on choice but excellent on quality. A good example of focusing on doing a few things well rather than trying to do it all. The breakfast and every western dish we tasted was superb. The service was generally excellent, especially Kim the chief butler who took us right to our suite for check in on arrival. Although we didn't require much in the way of concierge services during our stay I have no doubt they would have been excellent. With a great view and well designed modern rooms/suite I would gladly stay again and...
