Late posting, my stay was during December 2018.||I’ve always wanted to stay in this hotel, and have heard so much about them. I booked my stay thru Ctrip. ||I arrived in the afternoon, and the taxi will pull up in front of the hotel (one way road). Do ask the door staff to help if you have a lot of baggage, but I did not. The lobby is a few steps from the ground level, such a classic feeling and fun. Look out for touts in front of the hotel at night, they usually ask if you’d need massage service, so please don’t fall for it.||The reception was nice and upgraded my room to a corner room which is slight larger, but a fantastic view overlooking the Renmin Square gardens. The room was so spacious, well lit, everything working well, super clean and well maintained. The bathroom offers all the amenities that you would need and complimentary water is provided daily.||The bath offers a standing shower option, and I’m amazed that it even comes with the Japanese style bidet for the WC.||Overall, a wonderful stay and I would love to come...
Read moreThe park is a lovely historic hotel - fabulous to be able to stay in a piece of Shanghai's history! The rooms are spacious but showing their age a bit with wallpaper peeling in spots and some creaky floorboards. The view over the park was beautiful and the location is hard to beat! Breakfast had a great range of Chinese food, with a few standard western options, it could get crowded and I had to share a table one morning. The cafe/bar in the lobby was pleasant with afternoon tea and a limited drinks menu and live music (pleasant lounge jazz), the deli is famous for its palmiers and people queue around the block to get them! The doorman was always very friendly, the staff at the desk were pleasant if not a little nonplussed. The hotel also had a great little museum on the second floor with their history. If you want to stay in an iconic Shanghai landmark and love history and don't mind dates rooms then the Park is a fabulous option. The nearby historical museum is great and the People's Park is lovely to...
Read moreThe hotel is located at the middle of Nanjing Road, the "main street" of Shanghai, so I could visit the spectacular business centers along the street readily. There are 3 subway lines go through the subway station across the street, so it is easy to go to many other shopping centers of the city. I checked in on 3/17/2024 and out on 3/20/2024 and stayed in Room 1215. The room was nicely arranged, and the bed was comfortable. The sick curtain of the window blocked the light so well that the room was dark even when the sunlight was shining on the window. The staffs were polite. The lady in charge of the 12th floor (巫红霞)was warm and always ready to help. When I left the hotel in the morning on 3/20/2024, the young greeter at the doorway voluntarily helped me to carry my heavy luggage down 2 levels of stairs. I thanked him only; I did not read his name or tip him because I was in a hurry to run to...
