The hotel is located - as the name suggests - right in the center of Shanghai within walking distance to the Yu Garden metro station and Yu Garden itself. The Bund as well as the French Concession and other tourist destinations are easily accessible by metro. The rooms are perfectly clean and well-organized as well as surprisingly spacious for a city hotel.||||There is some construction outside, but it stops after 7 p.m. and the well-insulated windows block out any noise very well. ||||The staff is incredibly helpful - I would like to especially point out Sara from the reception, who helped my father find his phone that he lost on a train on the way to Hangzhou whilst remaining incredibly friendly and well-organized with also accommodating other guests. She was honestly the most helpful person I have ever had the pleasure of seeing at a hotel. ||||There is also breakfast buffet available on the terrace with a stunning view of the Shanghai skyline - this alone was worth it, although we did not actually have breakfast there as we also wanted to explore the many cafes in Shanghai.||||All in all, I recommend staying at Ibis Shanghai Yu Garden for anyone who is looking for an affordable, centrally located...
Read moreI visited Shanghai for the Nets vs Lakers pre-season games and experienced three different hotels during my stay.||||Ibis Shanghai Yu Garden is in a prime location. Just around the corner is a 24 hour mart and is walking distance to the Yu Garden district, the Bund and the Metro. Upon check in, there was an issue with the TV and WiFi. Sent someone to my room right away to troubleshoot and changed my room after attempt was unsuccessful. Room was clean so no complaints there. ||||Agree with other reviews:||||- No closet to hang up my clothing ||- no US TV channels and WiFi not the greatest but hey you’re on vacation right......||- there was a non working washing machine in my room; would have been pretty nice to use it since I stayed at this hotel the longest ||||I had a view of the high rise buildings which was very nice. I stayed in room 535 literally right near the elevators so the noise levels every morning was a bit much but other than that, if I were to ever visit again I would stay here but request away from...
Read moreI had a 24 hour layover and chose this hotel because I wanted to see how stunning the Yu Garden was. Honestly it was a bit difficult to find the hotel at first because Google map is not available in China. However, seeing the beautiful lights and the unique architecture of the Yu Garden made it all worth it. This hotel was so conveniently located to the garden but a bit tucked in. My room was spacious and clean, just a bit tiring to get to my room when having to drag my heavy suitcase down the very long carpeted hallway. The staff do not really speak English, and were not very helpful when I had WiFi and TV issue. I think this hotel is good to stay for a couple of nights because of the great value and it being so close to major attractions and not just for a layover, and I had to learn that...
